Leon TDi 110 Basic Tuning

Hi,

Recently purchased a 2001 Leon TDi 110...
I'm looking for some help on some cost effective options on how to increase the power output slightly.

I've researched a few different remaps and tuning boxes etc, anyone know what a realistic limit on this engine is without having to do loads of mods to the clutch/cooling etc?

I'm only 17 (laugh if you must...) but I'm willing to put aside a few hundred quid to get the best out of it.

And no, I'm not a typical boy-racer who wants to cover it with chrome spoilers, 22" chrome rims and flame decals from the local pound shop

I've noticed theres quite a few VERY nice cars on here, obviously theres a limit to what I can do to my car on a limited budget and a limit to how much the engine/'box/clutch can take...maybe in a few years time when I can afford to insure something else I'll get myself a Cupra

spend the money on a remap, My 110tdi has a custom code remap and it's well worth the cash. Mine is 145hp and 246lbft if I remember right.

The best bet is to get a upsolute map, they are best with the non PD TDIs, this will take it to about 140-145bhp. This is a good start to basic tuning, after the remap your looking at spending alot of money to get smaller gains, like injectors, turbo and FMIC then remap to take them is going to cost you a lot more.

I think I'm going for a remap alongside a couple of other basic mods. The remap I'm looking at is the Upsolute one, 143bhp and 290nM torque, should be plenty and hopefully the standard clutch can hadle it etc...i know theres other 'maps on the market which give bigger torque gains but I dont want to be forking out for a new clutch any time soon

I'm also going to go with an induction kit, I forget who but someone on the forum said theres about 6% power gains to be had from this due to the restrictive standard intake...should make it sound pretty insane too.

Before all this though I'm going to attempt to try and get the hadling sorted...I guess ive been spoilt with my previous two cars (306 D-Turbo and a 3-series coupe) so I'm kind of disappointed with the handling atm....dont know whether to go with just the upper front or the lower front and rear one as well? Any suggestions?

any remap on a 110 will be fine with the clutch, you only have to worry if you really have a 130 or a 150, unless your clutch seems on the way out or is knackered already

6% with an induction kit..... dont believe everything you read.

The standard clutch limit is around 330Nm 243 ft/lb on the 110tdi, you can get clutch shudder when close to this torque output depending on year of build. I have mapped mine to keep the torque down to a safe level in the peak torque range of 1700-2000rpm as my 04 plate car did shudder.
