Price for new front brake discs & pads

My Ibiza 1.4 apparently needs new front brake discs & pads - discs are pitted and grooved. According to local dealer whoever we bought it off had recently changed pads but not the worn discs.

Dealer has quoted £170 for replacing pads and discs. Is this a good price or should I shop around a bit?

(Sorry - first car I've owned and no idea if I'm about to be ripped off or not...)

Sounds about the right kind of price from a dealer. You could prob get it cheaper if you shop around tho, or do it yourself/get a mate to do it.

I paid £70 for pads and discs for mine, but its an FR so may be slightly bigger? On a side note, how do you remove the pads, there appears to be some sort of spring/thin piece of metal holding them in?

Discs and pads are so easy my jack russell could replace them, have a go at it yourself and save £100 maybe. There are guides on here with pics and no end of people willing to help and answer your questions. it's only people who don't search that we slap.

BTW if the pads are quite new you may just need discs and a good gentle run in.

once the caliper is off (2 bolts IIRC) they just prize off/out with a screwdriver.
