Low cost tuning module

Just wondering if anyone else has fitted a Synergy PD tuning box. The guy has been well known as a tuner of Rover/BMW diesel engines for some time but has just released a product suitable for VAG diesels as well.
As it comes with a 30 day return if not delighted policy I recently got one & so far am quite impressed.
My MPG is up at least 10% and low down power comes in a bit qiucker..
I have no connection with the company, just a satisfied customer..
More info here http://www.tuning-diesels.com/Vag/vaghome.htm
I should point out the product is far better than the website design!

I had something similar on my Superb. Yes they do give you a little more power but they also cause your emmisions light to come on and they are made cheap and start to fall apart after a few months. Just save up and get a remap, thats what i'm doing.

I have had it for several weeks & over 1000 miles & no emmisions light so far, as for the build quality I can't fault it, I have had a look inside & it is a profesionally made PCB complete with custom micrcontroller, so no reason to expect it will not last a reasonable amount of time..
The designer is estimating an extra 30 BHP..
What make was the one you fitted to the superb?

To be honest, i can't remember but it was a £30 job off ebay. Like i say, it worked and i could feel the difference but it just didn't last. I'm sure the one you have is much better.

I looked at these when I had a Pug 406 HDi90 (I know, I know...... everything about it was wrong, so very very wrong and I apologise to all and everyone) and they seemed fine to me especially for the money, but these things are fairly crude and only suitable for use on crap cars like the Pug!

Even HDi Pugs map well! First thing I did with it and got it mapped for £120 off a chap on Pug306.net. Been very happy with the map.Up from 90bhp to an estimated 115-120bhp.

Cheap tuning modules... we all know what lttle resistor built crap they are. Proper map all the way.

Think you have got slightly the wrong end of the stick here.
OK so the module I purchased is not the quite same as a full re-map, but it is certainly not just a resistor in a box, it intercepts the MAF signal and the Fuel temperature sensor & then adjusts the fuelling depending on the revs of the engine, it gives extremly good results, I would suggest as good as a re-map that increased the power by 30 BHP or so.
Main difference is that it cost £160 which is considerably less than the re-map route.

I'm sure thats what my plastic box did, hence why i had to get the temp sensor replaced, i would also think it unlikely you are getting an extra 30bhp, more like 10bhp, but a rolling road could prove me wrong.
