Im having real trouble with the front black lip on my mk1 lcr. Whenever im coming down multi storey carparks, or off a drive/carpark with a small slant, the bottom of the lip bumper (the black bit) scrapes the floor.

The car is totally standard and hasnt been lowered. Am worried that one day its gona scrape too much and rip the front bumper off.

Anyone else have this problem? Any way to ease the prob?

I have just replaced mine. Bought a spare at the same time. I replace mine about once every 9-12 months.

Dont worry about t, just accept that it ill get damaged. DONT TAKE IT OFF though, as then you will whack your bumper instead.

Yeh, they all scrape at some point!! I tend to avoid multi storey car parks. Mind you, I had a car which was quite a bit lower than the LCR before, so learnt the hard way where I could and couldnt go.

It does help if you try and take ramps / slants etc at an angle.........I find if you can get the wheels to touch before the bumper it gives you just a little bit extra clearance. I would normally take certain ramps at a 45degree angle, or if it was a driveway or something, reversing out can sometimes help.

And yeh, I have a spare splitter at home as well! £17 from the dealer.

Yeah, They Are Cheap Anyways, Mine Scrapes Coming On and Off My Drive At Home, Speed Bumps, Car Parks, Try and Get In At A Angle, It Might Feel Less Painful ;)

The splitter is only held on with clips, so, in theory, if you scraped it too hard, the splitter should come off long before you rip the bumper off!!

As its been said, it is a consumable part.......cheap enough from the dealer to replace every so often.

Only problem is that my dealer never has them in stock as a lot of the boys in town are buying them to put on skodas, fiestas etc etc.
