I didnt think i had a leak, but i went out this morning to see if the air con was working. turned the engine on and the next thing loads of water got dumped into the passenger footwell. Is this a common problem or should i bring it back to Seat? Not that i want to because they are rubbish in Cardiff!!!!

I wish we had a decent Seat dealer around here. the one in Cardiff is useless and they don't know what they are talking about half the time. But i guess i will have to see how bad it gets and sort it out after the weekend

Did you have the heater turned on? If the water was dumped almost straight away I'd suspect the heater matrix, which will be getting engine coolant pumped through it as soon as you start the car. I think the heater matrix is on the passenger side, buried deep behind the dash panels

I have just called Seat and booked my car in, they will charge me for the diagnostic fee if it is not warrantable, surely they can check the car for the leak where i have told them without having to chuck it on diagnostics. But it seems when it rains it leaks, as long as it isnt raining its fine. Also the heating system is heating up as hot as it usually did, is this a heater matrix probl;em?v:(

If you want the air con to work when its cold<freezing you can simple place your finger on the outside temperature sensor, the car thinks its warmer than it is then the air con will go on. It may only work for a minute or two mind until the sensor cools down again. It may also completely bugger the air con system up so its a risk you take.
As for the condensation, its common on leaky doors and the panel filter. My doors are leaking so I am having to de-ice the interior and exterior on freezing days.

As Mutley said, if the outside air temperature is below 3 degrees and your asking for the ac to work your also asking for the refridgerant within the system to (what is known as) super cool which will therefore freeze your pipes and split at these temperaures, what you could do is let the engine run for while and get the heat around the coils which will take to condensation droplets of and therefore no freeze and no big bill,

By the way where is the temp sensor located on the car?

Your air-con is fine and sounds like it is working as it was intended. I'd get looking for those leaks you appear to have, you shouldn't normally have anything more than mist on the inside of your screen if your car is dry inside.

I have just checked the pollen filter, and it is absolutely soaking. Since whoever did the service looked like they just shoved the cover back in and the water that should be leaving the car is actually going into the filter. [:@]

Will I have to get this filter replaced now or when it dries will it been fine? I wont be paying for the replacement anyways if it has to be done.
