Has anyone with an lcr fitted one of these?

http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content.asp?inc=product&cat=190202&product=FMMAPT

When I fitted my intercooler over a year ago I noticed how the standard pipe was a funny shape and was quite frankly a little poor. Shame my intercooler kit (pro alloy) didn’t replace it (I think the lc kit does). This is the first time I’ve seen a replacement available. I’ve searched but couldn’t find much. So has anyone fitted one? Is it a direct replacement for the standard pipe? Does the battery tray need moving or spacing off? Anyone one had any experience with this? I think it was developed with Myki on here for his mk3 ibiza.

Thanks for your time! :D

RickC and Yermother.

I beleive Forge made a replacement pipe up for Yermother to his dimensions (but he had a different inlet manifold on)

Thanks for the responses! :D

I think I’ll just order one and see how it goes, not many pennies!

I ordered one mate and it ain't the right flange. I have pm'd them with no reply but i know they are busy. That flange is for the normal 1.8t map sensor and not the LCR. I've been meaning to put a post in thier section about it.

Oh! Thanks for that! I seem to remember there being a problem with different size sensors in the pro alloy group buy for the mk1 leon cupras. I think pro alloy made new pipes for them. I wonder if it’s more to do with the age of the car that dictates which sensor you have. Why wont yours fit? Is it the bore in the pipe or is it a totally different flange altogether? I’m going to take mine off to day and have a look. Other than the flange does it fit? I seem to remember the stock one is shaped round the battery tray.

Thanks for your help :D

The pipe is fine its just the map sensor is completly different and needs a different flange.

two different sizes, 12mm and 16mm. My AMK was 12mm and others that I've seen have been 12mm, including BAM's My guess is that all LCRs are 12mm

Forge do the boss/flange as a weld-on separate item, and I'm sure when they they supply an adaptor so the boss fits 12mm and 16mm.

But, you could always check, it's only two torx screws.

Cheers Phil,
I'm sure my AMK LCR is a 16mm though, but i had one of the last AMK LCR's.
I'll post up in their section and see what they say.

Edit.... i checked and it is actually 11.5mm. Forge have supplied a tube with a 18mm map sensor hole in it.

Ok, tried to remove mine yesterday to check the size of the sensor and both bolts just spun, not good! :( I guess the bolts are sat in little threaded bits of metal that have broken free from the plastic. I can’t remove the pipe easily as the jubilee clip on the side that joins the intercooler pipe work is on the bottom and the wrong way round so headlight out, bumper off job!

Not really sure what to do now, I guess if I drive it, its going to blow the sensor out eventually! Any advice?

Oh you’re joking! I was going to ring a stealer tomorrow about a new pipe as that’s what I’ve buggered up! That’s a lot for a little plastic pipe! Oh poo! Think I ought to get the old one off and measure my sensor! See if it will fit the forge one!

Nope I needed one as my fan blades did this. I was getting the car mapped and only had 2 days left on the courtesy car insurance. No time to source a second hand one. Seat proper bent me over on that pipe :(

I still have the SMIC's so can't use the Forge one. If you have an FMIC judging by your pic the Forge one is perfect and a hell of a lot cheaper

Just out of interest why would still having the smic’s stop you from using the forge pipe? My pipe work is the same as standard in that area?

Standard pipe is a kind of s-shape and with the Forge one that would mean extra silicone pipe work onto the end of the Map tubing. I don't think there is the room with the SMIC in place. Where if you have the intercooler in the center then you have a whole area of empty space to the side to route pipe work. Just at a guess anyway someone might say otherwise.

I've seen one other where the fan belt has worn through like that...

TT has two mounting holes, presumably to stop it pivoting.
