Good to see you still hang around ANT and glad the MINI is still keeping you amused. Im also looking for a Pug 206 GTI too! I had retired the Cupra from trackdays, but have been persuaded to do two more before Christmas :doh: . That'll teach me for not pulling my finger out and getting one. Let me know how you get on with yours.

Yeah i still hang round, i do occasionaly see Tris scooting around town and do check in here to see whats going on.

The 206's are unbelivably cheap. The one have bought is orange, has fooked aircon ( which don;t matter its coming out) and a couple of light dings. 2 owners from new. But for 980 quid. i mean i will honestly make about 500 quid back on the bits i sell on. Interior is worth 200 quid minimum ( full leather ) and then other parts like cd changer, fogs, wiper, even genuine stereos are worth 40 quid.

So that makes it a 500 quid car. with 140bhp good handling too once lighter. I am then fitting a roll cage, buckets, harnesses. upgrading brakes, ful major service including cambelt water pump etc, oh and a cheap set of coilovers and braces and polybushed all round. Then its off to first track day hopefull beginning of November. Might take a trip back to ring as got invited to the closing party yesterday.

This is working out cheaper than buying and modding a 205 Gti. And in my eyes i am getting a lot more car for the money. Not going to play with the engine to keep it solid

I'll get some pics to you once i pick it up on saturday and have started work on it. Got to detail it this weekend to brighten the paintwork. Can;t wait to get my hands dirty on this little baby:):)

That was a good read! Loving the car fella and impressed with how quick u repaired the car and went back out there!!

I was going to the ring last July but bumped the car a week before and still now it's on axel stands lol

The winter rebuild is almost upon us... ;)

Cadwell Park with SCN last weekend was perfect for the Arosa, and it was a fantastic day!

I have the CGTI Donington trackday this Sunday then it's time to get to work.. :)

Haha.. well, it's an option, maybe not one I'll go for but.. :whistle:

The Arosa has now completed the final event of the year, a rather cold and wet trackday at Donington.. the morning was a waste of time due to weather and a **** in a mitsi dropping oil around 1/2 of the circuit - literally :censored: The afternoon sessions were much better, and later on a decent dry line appeared, making the experience an enjoyable one..!

have you tried to put the car through an MOT and if so did you pass the emmitions with your decat?

Hope we are going to see more pics of th winter stuff.

I'm struggling, i really need some dry weather and a little bit warmer as i just can;t find time to do the 206. I've done all the easy stuff such as stripping the car and fitting the bucket seats. But now i seem to have a load of parts sitting in the garage but not fitted them.


I have suspension, bushjes, anitrol bars, alloys, tyres, roll cage, harnesses,

however what started as a cheap toy is now taking on a different aveneue as i have ordered a jenvey throttle body conversion with emarald ecu for the 206. trouble is ordering is the easiest thing to do , its getting round to fitting the bloody stuff.....lol Roll on spring.


Although it all needs to be done soon as the first ring trip is planned for april so i need to fit a shake down track day before then too. DOOOOOOHHHH!!!!!!

There'll be plenty of pics as ever once I start :rolleyes:

The battery and mount has turned up, I'm just trying to source a replacement sill panel.. but regardless of this come 20th December it will be in the garage. I already have the rear bumper off :)

Sounds like your project is gaining momentum and expenditure! Are you planning on an Easter 'ring trip? That is my target completion date once again.

The 2008/2009 round of improvements and repairs have begun!

It's that time of year again, and I've been threatening it for a while.. the Arosa is now in the garage and in bits (once again!), but more of that in a sec. Things should be a bit less pressured this year, however there's still a fair amount of work to be done, so let me begin by compiling a list ;) :

  • IMP: Relocate battery - never got around to this last year
  • IMP: Fit oil pressure/temp guages - didn't have time last year
  • IMP: Remove more weight - best way to improve power/weight ratio!
  • IMP: Fit lightweight alloys and new R888 boots
  • IMP: Fit bonnet pins
  • IMP: Fit rear pop-out windows to provide much needed in-car ventilation
  • IMP: Source a full-size passenger wing mirror to improve cage-restricted visibility
  • IMP: Investigate a LSD :)
  • FIX: Damaged drivers-side sill
  • FIX: Wonky front end and dodgy looking bumper
  • FIX: Repaint interior floor-pan
  • FIX: Re-underseal
  • FIX: Rear crash bar after a muppet drove into me in a queue of traffic
  • FIX: Visit a bodyshop!

IMP = Improvement
FIX = Wear/tear/mishap from 2008


First up, I have already been collecting a few parts..

  • Lightweight Odyssey PC625 battery
  • Mount for said battery
  • Cable to relocate said battery
  • Section of driver-side door sill cut out from a Lupo with much angle-grinding!
  • Rear pop-out windows from a Lupo to provide much needed summer cooling whilst on-track
  • New upper front-bumper


Right, time to begin! This weekend I have wrapped up my MKIII Escort so that I can free up the garage to work on the Arosa, so once it was in the garage, the front end was jacked up and the work commenced.

First I removed the rear bumper and crash bar, then the front bumper, headlights, crash bar and front panel including radiator..

Then the standard battery and mount were removed, before giving all of the visible chassis areas now exposed a good clean up to remove the wax and oil grime. At this point I decided to tackle the messy wiring in the engine bay, removing bits that were defunct and re-routing various parts of it. I also removed the CDA so that I could tackle the next task..

At this point I had created a nice void within the bay where the battery once was, this is going to be my distribution point for all positive feeds originating from the relocated battery:

Although hard to see, I have now removed the thick, heavy and given this is the muddiest Arosa known to man thanks to previous owners, dirty sound deadening from the back of the engine bay:

Below is a pic of the other side of the cleaned up engine bay, and the almost undone-wing (which is need of some beating!):

I'm off to screwfix tomorrow to obtain some much needed supplies.. :whistle: .. however, below is a pic of the standard battery and my boxed up new one (the new one weighs less than half of the standard unit and is under a third of it's size!). In the background is the sill panel:

Finally, here's a pic of my safely wrapped up new rear quarter windows - I doubt I'll fit these for quite some time to make sure they don't get messed up with the various cutting/grinding/painting that lies ahead:

That's it for now, but not long to wait until the next update - I'm planning on making some serious progress over the next 7 days ;)
