I have posted about this before and not had a concrete answer , so just trying again.

Has anyone fitted an aftermarket head unit single or double din and managed to get the SEAT bluetooth system working with it?.

If so can you list the model number , parts used and any handy tips we need to get it done.

Zboyd , if there is a definate answer to this can you make it a sticky please.

Cheers.

I have been hunting for an answer to this for weeks. The only problem that I can think of would be connecting the sound output from the bluetooth to the speakers so you can hear the calls. Is that all that it would take to make it work??

As far as i can tell , when the bluetooth senses an incoming call it sends a signal to the head unit and uses the headunit to amplify the call through the speakers.

So i guess its just a case of finding out which wires are sending the signal to the head unit and which wires carry the call and hopefully finding a headunit which is compatible.

if im talking total bollox then please correct me

i think someone has used an alpine double din unit succesfully doing this on a golf mkv because it accepts a phone interupt of bypass signal , but i cant find the post again.

I have spoken to a couple of car hifi shops and they have said no reason it cant be done but have no experience of doing it themselves.

if all else fails i suppose that i could talk to SEAT technical who will probably say "it cant be done" quick and easy answer for them.

i am determined to get to the bottom of this , small donations will be greatly appreciated if i find the answer

I am looking to do this very soon (stereo is in the boot ready for me to do it).
There is tel +/- input and mute that all go to the head unit. so you need to wire up a speaker to this output.

And you have done this have u m8?
if so tell us how please.

well one friend did it with a clarion headunit it seems they all have what is needed to work im going to ask him the model he has so you can look for it but the only issue is the sound of the conversation wont be in stereo as the head unit make you choose if you want it in left or right why i dont know.

alpine you have to work a little bit more certain double din dvd players have the input and telephone mute iva w205 i think is the winner in this matter then for the wheel controls you will have to look around the forum for the store in UK that sells the alpine can thing so it works with seat.

if you are more like me that likes to make his own stuff you can make a car pc, i have 7" liliput lcd screen atom cpu with intel motherboard 1gb ddr2 800mhz 160gb 2.5 laptop hdd sata 30gb ssd ocz core for the OS dc dc 100w psu a keyboard emulator for the steering wheel and the bluetooth usb sound card from creative usb gps and usb wifi im looking for a nice usb hdspa for internet mobile.

I am considering the JVC AVX-810 for my K1 with bluetooth when i eventually get it, and obviously dont want to lose the bluetooth function. I have found a copy of the manual on the internet and it does indeed have a brown telephone muting wire. As far as I can see, all we have to work out now is which wire on the cars wiring loom is the one that carries the signal from the bluetooth to mute the unit, and then which wire (or wires) carries the sound from the bluetooth and connect into the speaker wires somehow so you can hear a caller. Hang on, what about the microphone so the caller can hear you? Where is that located? Does it feed into the original headunit, or direct to the bluetooth module?

the mic is part of the wiring of the bluetooth module.
i 2 was looking at the jvc , the screen comes off which is a bonus if you have to park up in dodgy areas.
i will have a look at mine and do some tracing of wires and signals , will use another phone to phone my mobile in the car and see what signals i can get.

the telephone mute isnt the only one you need you also need phone IN if it doesnt have that you will have to press aux to hear the conversation which is what i wanted to avoid.

robdf2 dont get scared by a car pc obviously is more work involved but is totally more fun and you can do a lot more with it, but i agree sometimes plug and play is nice

I am still trying to weigh up whether it is worth changing the head unit for the dvd touch screen etc of the JVC AVX810, but at the cost of losing the bluetooth factory option that i have paid £250 for which i dont think i will use much. (My car is due for delivery in the new year)

i think if u r worrying about losing ur bluetooth i would wait to see if there is actually a way to integrate the factory setup and an aftermarket unit , pretty much why i started this thread really.
also dont forget the bluetooth also adds the large mfd so is definatley worth having any way !
i will try a few things this weekend and will post back my findings.

Just thought. What happens when the phone receives an incoming call? Have to press AUX again? I havent got my car with bluetooth yet so dont know how you answer the phone when it rings with the bluetooth.
