have you factored in all the costs?

do you have an FMIC, 3" downpipe, full exhaust including race cat, air filter etc?

the standalone kit from Jabba (last time I looked) just included the turbo kit and the parts to fit and map this, but did not include aspects such as the FMIC (which is at least another £500 on top of this install) and this is a must to have due to the massive amount of heat soak that will be endured from the big turbo

also have you modified the handling on yours i.e. coilovers etc, as you are really going to need to up the handling to cope with the extra power

also the engine mounts and dog bone mount I would highly recommend changing due to the engine lift and extra strain on the standard mounts from the hike in power

most importantly, what is your target power? if you are thinking of going for a GT28rs, then you will have to peg the power at around 330bhp to ensure the engine does not go pop. Standard internals are only good for 350 absolute max

anything more then you will need to look at uprating the internals which is a few more pennies......

lots of things to consider going Big Turbo:)

lol.. and remembeer front wheel drive folks when thinking 400bhp power levels.

4wd takes it easily. 2wd does'nt unless bone dry, good tyres, 3/4/5/6 gears

400bhp peak figure but only pulling strong from 5000-7300rpm will feel **** trust me

380bhp peak figure and pulling from 4000-8000 will feel nicer and more flexible & be faster on the road

bigger is not better often as not

that statement for me Bill is EXACTLY what I want:)

and I think you mentioned the GT28 to do this as well?

Even with 4wd i can spin the tyres up in the current conditions with 420/440 ish
If you must have 380bhp+ a gt28rs is not big enough mate.
I'd be looking bigger something like a 18g,small owens hybrid,gt2871r on a 1.8t.

swings and roundabouts isn't:) want big power but dont want lag!

is an 18g in terms of spool and power in between a gt28 and gt30 then?

too be honest i'd say the spool is very close to a gt28rs.I think the versions of 18g's i've seen from scoobies are probably 350-380bhp maxium.A gt28rs is 340-350 maximum. A gt2871r is a 400bhp turbo maximum but the small owens hybrid seems very interesting ,capable of 400bhp and suppose to spool well.

gt2871r will flow 400.

iirc you can get an option of a/r to flow even more

forget that tho as lag will be horrible
no bigger than 0.62 for a reasonable drive

gt2871 on 0.63 spools like the gt2x, but with ~400bhp. my 4wd octy is spinning up un 1st/2nd gears in these cold damp conditions. fwd would be a frustrating waste of time and tcs disco dash lights or nearest hedge. :)

only thing on owens hybrid, is its IHI mounting flange style, available manifolds in the main bottom mount, and hideous fitment in some instances. Top mount is my personal preference for ease of pipework, in and out, so no daft tight 90 degree bends on intakes etc... Owens is only of use for those who have already gone down the ihi route and dont want to change manifold but want >400bhp

if starting from fresh, there are more options available as a complete package.

There you go then jamie,gt2871r small housing, proper mani .560cc/630cc injectors and all the gubbins.
Get Bill on the case!
I myself am umming and arrhhing over whether too upgrade my 16g6 which is lag free 420bhp/440lb/t for a laggier gt3076r 530bhp/470lb/t.Will be good on track but probably worse on the road and on sprints.

thanks mate

but I am confused, and just need one final thing clearing up

you say get the gt2871r which will run 400bhp max and similar spool times to the gt2x.....but then I read you have a td05 16g6, which runs lag free at 420bhp/440lbft, so surely this seems a better choice of turbo, more power, and lag free?

or am I comparing apples and stairs, as you run an evo now which has more CC

sorry for all the questions
