ice warning bongs

I have noticed the other day that the ice warning bongs have stopped sounding, the display still flashes though to warn of low outside temp, also i noticed around the same time the buzzer for the lights left on has also stopped sounding. could it be a wire off on the buzzer/bong speaker or something else?

has anyone else had this fault?

yeah sounds like a good fix:) take it the seat belt warning has gone as well then?

i have never heard the seat belt warning, I guess that has never worked. only had the car a few months, i wonder if the warranty would cover it?

just got hold of a seat workshop service manual v3:52, so i will have a look on there when i have the time, to see if there is owt i can do to fix it. no doubt it will be a software issue just to make things more annoying. if so it will have to wait till next year when it goes in for service & mot

never had seat belt warning on mine

hmm Am I lucky or not :) mine warns me as soon as I start to drive and the seat belt is not connected. same bong as the cold weather bong. but it goes on for ages.

if you have VAG-COM and can-bus you maybe able to turn this feature on.

look under the "List Of Changable Options" his examples however are based on the 2006 MKII Leon sport.

Hi guys,

Toxic has placed a fine link which explains most of the features which can be switched on/off by (extended/OBD2) diagnose tools like VAG COM or the VAS5051/52 systems most of the SEAT dealers are using (at least in Germany).

Here is another, which I've posted several times before:
=> http://de.openobd.org/index.htm

For me it has the most complete overview for VAG cars up to 2006/07, unfortunately only parts have been translated to English, still you can take a glance at the SEAT part within the German corner.

To all who are missing the seat belt signal: it can be easily turned on again by OBD2-coding ...

but looking at the starter's (hanxslf) malfunctions with multiple sounding features, I assume that the instrument controller might be affected, as the beep is produced electronically.
Another way to check: If your Altea model has the "tyre control monitor" (button in front of armrest) try to hold this for approx. 5 sec. to force a reset/restart for the monitoring.
If there is no acknowledgement sound either (you still should have noticed the corresponding LED being on for that time in the instruments panel), the "beeper" seems to be gone for good ...

greets ... Klaus

Hi, I don't have the VAG-COM and can-bus, so i can't try this.
But as I'm not missing these bongs i think i will leave it for now and maybe ask when it goes in for service next time if they can pinpoint the fault
Thanks for every ones replies and wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR

random ice bongs

The ice warning bongs only sound when the outside temp drops below 4 deg c, if it is already below this temp you will not get any bongs as you should know its cold already when you got in the car.

really? my Altea will bong when you turn the ignition on to warn you of the temp once your in the car.

Yeah mine always used to warn me with bongs if below 4`C with the display flashing. the display still flashes when turning on the ignition on but the bongs seem to be on vacation.:D
Happy New Year everyone

Yes I have an ALTEA 2.0FSi sport (petrol) and my "ice bongs" have recently stopped too even though the temperature has been anywhere between 4C and as low as -2C lately!

No idea why the ice bongs have stopped but my lights on bongs still work OK! Weird?

Due for a service soon so maybe get it solved then.

Happy New Year to everyone :)

Looks like what you say is right, today i went out and the temp was 5c, after a mile or so it dipped to 4c and Hey Presto ''BONG'' I noticed this happen about 3-4 times today so maybe it's not busted after all  only had ALTEA for 6 months so I'm not used to it's quirks
The seat belt bong might be turned off as this has never sounded
