M1 Autos do not buy used/new from them

Bought a new car from them, as it turns out with slight damage to the paint work. Alledgedly not covered under warranty and the dealer won't fix. Poor customer experience through out, dealer is :censored:. Even when you tell them you are going to instigate legal proceedings under Sale of Goods Act they still do nothing. Seat UK say not their problem they only supply cars. So much for a SMMT code of practice.

So if you are looking for new/used use another a company do not use this outfit. Was going to buy new Ibiza for the wife but voted with feet from dealer and SEAT and ordered new Ford Fiesta 2 weeks ago. Never buy a SEAT again.

yes in theory and any reasonable time which is anything up to 6 months. That is repair to put it into the condition is should have been supplied in or replaced at the dealer/SEAT expense. But if the dealer refuses, its legal action only according to SMMT, Trading standards and a firm of solicitors I spoke to.

aren't you entitled to return the car no questions asked if you've had it less that 14 days?

Have you stated to them that you ar returning the car within 14 days or have you just complained to them about the paintwork?

Im sorry you are unhappy with us

I am aware of this problem with your car and as i am aware it is a paint defect on the car due to bird droppings corroding the paint due to the fact that it was not cleaned off and left on the car to dry and as birds eat berries there droppings are acidic and will eat into the paint. With regarding the threat of legal action not making us bow to your demands, i am sorry but if we were at fault in any way for the paint erosion i would have signed off for the repair to be done at no cost to yourself. If you wish to go to our section on here you will see that we do totally rely on customer service and recommendation. if you wish to contact me directly please feel free to do so. Even though this defect is not down to us as my service team and sales team have already made you aware we will rectify the defect at cost for you but we cant repair damage that we have not caused

I appreciate your comments and am merely flagging to others so that they are on guard should they choose to deal with you based on my experience. In order to give a balanced picture to readers the damage to the paint work was flagged within 7 days of collecting the car whilst being given a clean & polish. Considering the vehicle is garaged at night and parked in a underground car park when at work i fail to see how it happened. also would i spend 19k on a car and not clean bird droppings off straight away. it doesn't say much for the quality of the paint work. The droppings had been on there for a long while to cause that damage more than 7 days.

I was told the boss was going to call me, so far no one has and that was 10 days ago!

If you remember collecting the car when you checked with lee the entire car comparing gaps in the door shuts etc etc i am sure you would have noticed the mark you are refering to. And with regards people being on guard when dealing with my company well all i will say is we offer a 100% service and if we or any of my staff are at fault we offer full co-operation and full rectification at no cost to the customer. I am sorry that you are unhapy but with regards spending 19k on the car and not cleaning bird mess off the car well obviously you didn't clean the bird mess off the car cos when you checked the car there were no marks and 7 days later the marks were there if you wish to discuss this matter in detail please feel free to call me directly Charley.

just to balance it all...

i went to M1 for a warranty fix but was told no, went to another dealer and was sorted in 4 days. wanna guess whats it was? bubbled paint!!

£19k car that cant take bird poop? i had heard seat paint was poor quality but this is a joke.
everyone else can say "should of cleaned it off" or "some bird poop is very acidic" but had this happened to you and a dealer says no you'd be very angry!

A bird shitting on a Veyron would have the same effect/results :headhurt:

Its not the end of the world, such things can be removed by a skilled detailer, you may even be able to do it yourself;

Here's a "how to" on it http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1516

& yes I've had it happen & sorted it myself via the above link.:)

If my bird shat on a Veyon, I'd clean her RIGHT off.

To the OP - if the defect wasn't there whe you picked up the car, and appeared later, I'm not sure what you expect them to do.

Although the "bird poo ate my carpaint" story is a bloddy annoying one (i.e. car paint should really resist being poo'd on), it's not like the story's not been heard before, on many brands.

Try another dealer, see if they'll do it under warranty - but I doubt it. I'm sure you'll get a sympathetic ear, I bet most of them hate being undercut all the time...

when i picked the car up i did give the car a check e.g door shuts etc; however due to the high gloss the markings weren't visible in the middle of the roof. When I took the car into M1 they struggled to get pictures to send to SEAT, and in the mechanics own words "its difficult to spot at some angles". The car was garaged at night and driven to work and the works car park is underground (which is why i know it happened before i took delivery - never hear of birds breaking and entering just for a crap) in the period between collection and the first clean which is when i spotted the marks whilst giving it a wax n polish. Certainly if a bird had crapped on the car i would have removed it as soon as i saw it. Having owned cars for 23 years and had bird crap on them before I have never seen this happen. The paint quality is very poor. Certainly don't want to be owning the car for much longer with quality like that. If they cannot paint a car properly i hate to think what it will be like in a couple of years.
RS Focus I think here i come.

that must have been some really acidic poop as I know people who leave bird poo on their car for weeks and its fine after 2-3 washes and a polish.
