wot bout the avon ZV5 are they any good as i have been told avon are good tyres

I'd avoid them if at all possible mate. I have Avon ZZ3s on my Saab 9-5 2.3T Aero and they're mediocre at best, even in the dry. As soon as they're worn down I'll be sticking Goodyear Eagle F1s or Toyo Proxes T1Rs on there.

I've used Hankook Ventus Sport K104s before and they were very good. The Falken tyres mentioned before are better than the Avons IMO.

I had Avon tyres years ago, ZV1's I think. For the price, they'd give a premium brand a good run for their money. With the ZV5's being an asymmetric pattern, they'll probably perform better than the ZZ3's overall. Just looking at an advert in the local paper, the ZV5 in 225/40/18 is £375 fitted (for 4). However, they list Bridgestone Potenza RE050A at the same price... BUT, for only £25 more, you could have the Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics fitted - that would be my choice. Had the Potenza's before, and grip in all conditions was a huge improvement over the Dunlop Sport Maxx I had before them. The Goodyears are even better again! :)

If you can find them for your budget including fitting then by all accounts get them.
They are probably the first choice of many on here.

Only £95.88 at tyre traders >>> http://www.tyretraders.com/SearchTy...Ratio=40&Rim=18&Speed=Y&Manufacturer=GOODYEAR :)

And yes, it's the Goodyear F1 ASYMMETRICS you want... the GSD3's are old stock of a discontinued tyre.

Also, shop around local independent tyre fitters (forget Kwik-Fit, National Tyres etc. they're rip-off prices and they're not very good), you may be able to get them that price locally.

I went to my local fitter & gave them the Tyre Traders price and they matched it - including fitting & balancing :)

p.s. here are a few magazine reviews >>> http://eu.goodyear.com/home_en/good...ews_2008/2008_03_04_Eagle_F1AS_Testwinner.jsp
