Traction control light comes on..

When i'm driving me traction control light comes on and won't go off even when i press the button. When i turn the engine off and restart it the lights not on anymore? Anyone know why?

You will need to plug your car into vagcom and do a diagnostics, it is likely to be a maf fault i think

Should not be too expensive - VagCom cable with free software on ebay for about £13. I had the same issue once. The light came on and statyed on until i turned the engine of and then back on again.

Got my VAGCOM cable the other day - Did an ABS check and it tunred up a fault code. Cleared the code and it has not reappeared and neither has the light.

If you have had the maf unplugged it will com on. Check the connector is plugged in properly. If it is the connector then the light will go out after a couple of days

If it is the MAF then it's not that bad - ECP or GSF do replacements for ~£45 and stealers do them for around £63 exchange which comes with 2 year warranty

am i missing something here? why would your TCS light come one with a MAF fault? would it not be your engine managment light?

Closest I can think is when it detects wheel-spin, it adjusts the figures coming from the MAF into the ECU so that it cuts fuelling and so power from the engine - sure there'd be an easier way to do it by adjusting the timing in the ECU than with the MAF though?

The ecu uses the signal from the MAF and the signal from the ABS sensors (amongst others) to perform its calculations. With a faulty MAF, it can no longer rely on other signals being correct and it resorts to a base table of parameters to run with. (That's why the car 'appears' better with a faulty MAF unplugged) In this situation, it turns off the TCS system for safety.

man i cant get my head round what airflow into the engine has to do with traction control, i though it was wheel speed linked to the drive by wire throttle, when the value from the front wheel was higher than the rear the throttle was shut off untill they stopped spining, also cuts boost. but the maf, surely that just sends an input to ecu to calcute engine load for fuel and spark relitive to engine speed?
Maybe i should start a new thread about this?

maf, i had this problem, soon after maf went bye bye. tested it by unplugging it when was running crap. took the connecter off and it ran smoother.

I have the same problem with my tcs light, did this issue get resolved??
