Hi all

i was going to post this in the revo and/or custom code forums but as its both i had to post it here.

i have decided im getting a remap......maybe before christmas (more than likely after)

i have had 2 prices 312 from cc and 349 from revo

the reason im more inclined to get a revo is te dealer is up the road where as cc is in gloucester (not a mobile agent that close)

also the revo chap has knocked off the tax and let me know that if i need to take m car in for warranty he will switch it off and back on free off charge rather than buying the switch.

is this something most dealers offer?

all help will be appreciated

Andy

Id personally go for custom code as i have heard much better reports about their product. Im runing revo software at present and it is alright. Personally if i was to do it again id go for custom code as there maps are smoother.

one other reason im more inclined for a revo is the state it makes my pd100 up to 150 whereas cc stat it at 130 its alot of power difference for roughly the same cost.....

do custom code offer 30days money back guarantee like revo?

Not really sure around your area. if your not too bothered about travelling for it try RS Tuning in Leeds. Been out in a couple of cars with there mapping and im more than impressed.
Also heard good things about P-torque and there cheap too.

I know a guy that has just got a custom map from RS Tuning and took his 1.9TDi to 154.6bhp and silly torques 260lb.ft odd!

Think there about £300. You seem more worried about cost rather than quality of the map? I'd say its worth travelling for.
Look on te brightside. At least you'll have time to test it on the way home.

If thats the case id wait until money isnt tight, and then get the better map rather than buy the cheapest and then regret it over time.
Im speaking from experience. I paid a fortune for the revo map as it was one of the only "reputable" companies id heard of. Knowing more now, i wish id have looked into it a bit more.

That what chebs made?

Yes :)

how much would an rs tune cost me? id prob loosed the cost difference in the drive up and back....lol

Youd not loose the difference as it would cost more.. lol

Cheb got a custom map, so a little more than £300 from memory. As you said, id want quality not big bhp 'claims'

I dont believe RS Tuning do offer that no. However if money is tight dont get a remap, as no matter what anyone says it will put extra strain on OEM parts. Now things like the clutch will be fine.

Id rather go with a remap that wouldnt have a problem, but I had to pay a little more for a custom jobbie, than travel just down the road, and months later, you have problems and keep having to go back and forth.

Just my 2p.

May i also add that revo maps often have quite a torque spike, which may lead to the clutch going.
But yeh as said already, its well worth paying that bit extra for a better quality map, thats going to cause less problems.

how long do you reckon a remap from rs and a remap from p-torque would take?

im asking this as the round trip to rs will be 410.97 miles, about 7 hours 14 mins (without the map) and a round trip to p-torque is more realistic 175.05 miles, about 3 hours 36 mins (without the map)

i appreciate you comments

Depends on wether its a custom one or a load and go. Speak to P-torque. They have a section on here under site sponsors. They will be able to tell you everything you want to know.

As a distance thing, id say P-Torque also.

I havnt had a map by them and I did approach them about custom mapping Big turbo'd diesel's but they never got back to  which IMHO is poor customer service.

Depends who maps them, and where some do it out on the road, others on RR's

End of the day, out of everyone youve mentioned id just get the Custom Code mobile agent out to your door (costing you nothing extra I believe) and get a smooth map? The PD100 doesnt have clutch issues as it uses the same clutch as the PD130, so running 250lb.ftish is fine aslong as drive it correctly.

I did respond via PM, but you never got back to me

My last question was, what power are you hoping to achieve?
