thanks brad1...but should it take longer for the boost to reach full boost, e.g when i'm in 4th or 5th gear driving around 40MPH and as i put my foot down it takes time to reach 12PSI-14PSI?
What revs are you getting at 40mph in 4th? I bet its less than 2000, in which case you are off the bottom of the turbo's boost curve. Power will be way down and naturally it will take a bit longer to get back on boost. 5th would be even worse - you need to be above 40 to be changing into top gear.
On my car (TDI 110, ASV engine) 40 in 4th is 1600 rpm, 40 in 5th is 1200. You shouldn't expect much turbo boost at those revs. You should be in 3rd at 40 (2200 rpm).
i'll have a look how much i'm boosting at those rev's...i've recently had my timing belt changed, the car starts first time with no problem, i'm just not sure if the diesel pump has been set up properly, as it was done by myself and my uncle. The car hesitates abit when i put my foot down, especially when i'm in 3th 4th and 5th gear. Had all the car checked for faults via a computer (not vagcom) and no faults came up. So i'm thinking it could be the diesel pump which needs to be set up properly.
iirc a boost controller will only allow the turbo to boost to a maximum of what it can at the moment, so if its 14psi now, it will only max boost to 14psi and then you can turn it down
