its confusing at the original service shedule will probably show it as a 120,000 miles change. Or 6 years whichever comes first.
However its widely adopted that its 60,000 miles or 5 years. some are even saying 4 years now.
While to consequences of a belt failing are potentially very expensive, i think its also fair to say we have not been inundated with threads relating to failed timing belts.
In your case, regardless of the mileage, if the belt has never been changed i suggest it needs it on age alone.

you gonna have the service done then peachy? or do it yourself?

Its a time consuming job, especially in the Ibiza with a lot less room to move about, you have to take off one of the engine mounts to do the job too IIRC. We are recommending 60k miles or 5 years for most 1.8T and 1.9TDI engines. We have had cars with only 30 - 40k miles come in that are 6 or 7 years old that have stripped teeth on the belts. It can be a slightly expensive job, but nothing compared to if it lets go on you. Just be glad its not a cambelt change on an RS6 4.2V8 - your looking around £900+VAT for one of them

Andy I completely understand where you're coming from on the cambelt, and that its a precise job without room for errors. I was talking more about the service itself...
just had mine done at 68k, but only cos my water pump failed otherwise i'd have prob given it another few thousand.
just had mine done at 61k last belt was changed at 30k though, just went by what it said in the book
