AFAIK the 433/434 is only rounding anyway and the difference doesn't matter. I never bothered checking, so it could be just luck mine worked I suppose, but I was under the impression it didn't matter.

dont know for sure but you will need a new and correct transponder for the key. you can get them from here:

Cheers mate, so just a new key fob and replace the transponder with the correct model and all should be ok?

right so all was ok when you did it, maybe ill be lucky too lets see how much i can find out from others.

Would think a Golf of a similar year (2002) would be the same and on my old key, the part number is "HLO 1J0 959 753 AG" and frequency is 434MHz.

what year was your old car mate early reg also. thanks all

Hi matey, I got a flip key & blank blade from fleabay - got the blade cut at Tipmsons for 7 quid and then just replaced the transponder from my old key and reprogrammed it as per the cars manual. Worked fine and also works a whole lot better than the original 2 button key :D

if you have the old key then yes you can use the OLD transponder out of that, if not you will need to reprogram the ecu for the new transponder. either a good locksmiths can do this or your seat Dealer. make sure though you have the correct transponder.
