No mate you run the power cable you get in the wiring kit from the +ve on the battery, to the boot, there is a whole in the top right hand corner of the bulk head go though that and there is another grommet behind there, push the cable though that.

then unclip the pass' side dash trim from the end of the dash and you should be able to see the wire. pull it though and then hide it as much as possible to the back of the car. the sub and amp you have posted the link for tbh isnt all that good. spend a little more and get something like this: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-typer-pack-super-saver-p-7115.html i can say that if you get the jbl you will be upgrading in no time.

i would get a custom box made to the specs of the sub you'll be getting...just that imo the boxes that come in those packages are made to "fit all" and don't usually get the best performance out of the sub, especially if you contemplate on getting something of good quality like JLAudio

i got a custom box for my JL 12W3v3 and have just over half my boot space, which is very good considering the box plays down to 27Htz ;) and only runnin off 800W Phoenix Gold Octane amp. very pleased

Got a pic? i'm running the same sub(well V2), that alpine sub/amp deal is a good starter kit tbh. As said run the sub in a spec'd box you will get great results!

Nickyjam, you got the dimentions as well>?

before you order make sure your head unit has the pre outs on the back (red and white plug which should be marked sub/subwoofer)

You will need an amp wiring kit.
When you have run the power cable you need to run the RCA cable (the one with the red and white plugs on each end) and the remote wire, which is the thin wire. the RCA and remote run to your headunit, plug the RCA's in the the headunit and look in your manual to see what one is the remote on the headunit (will probably be external amp' remote signal or something similar) then you'll have too strip a little bit of the wire and twist the two remotes wires together, when you have run all of the cables you will need to find somewere in the boot to earth the amp, use the cable from the wiring kit which should be around 2ft long. i drilled a small whole in the bracket the holds the split seats ingether and screwed in there and then just put each cable were it says on the amp.

Its easy mate you should well be able to do it. Were are you from mate??

hi Wazb

ive been looking at the head unit and the features arent much different t the standard head unit........(you can buy and adaptor for the standard unit)

regards to the image below (also on page 15 of the pdf) shows its only certain models that have the pre outputs for a sub (unfortunately not yours)

output.jpg

you may be able to but a connector that attaches to the harness but you might need to purchase a new head unit...

as i noticed ur last head unit wasn't of a huge value this is a few selecyions that have most of features of the previous h/u but have the pre out for your sub....

alpine

Kenwood

if you have the extra cash

Alpine

i recommend this because when a full speed connection is bought (in addition)you can control your ipod with the cd and see the track info on the screen. also as an addition you can buy a bluetooth adapter and wire a car kit through you car at the fraction of a cost of a stand alone.

or if you like the below h/u (mine)

IMG00018.jpg

then that on

My H/U

i hope this helps but i think a new H/U would be the best as im not sure if you can but the connectors for kenwood

now your bored from :blahblah::blahblah: and your now:sleeping::sleeping:

i hope this helps one way or the other

Andy

Hi Wazb

the ipod connection is a full speed connection which connects to the bottom of the ipod (where the usb is connected to the computer). this allows the track and album info to be shown on the headunit.

if you do not have an ipod you can purchase an aux in plug (which replaces the full speed connection). as far as im aware, this does not take the track info from the mp3 player.

the headunit that i have also has a usb connection for music devices. im also not sure if this provides track info on the headunit.

the headunit also has a subwoofer level controls that you can adjust the gain on the sub.

if you require your steering wheel controls to continue to work then you need to purchase a skoda steering wheel interface (only one that works, that im aware of)

the cd player is mp3 conpatable so if you burn a dvd mp3 disc (4.7 GB) then you can put around 700 songs on a disc)

i hope this helps if you need any thing else let me know

check out the pic of my hu by clicking the link in my siggie...

you can buy ipod adaptors and usb adaptors for it and it automatically finds the aux-in by the handbrake (if you have one), 10x10 colour configuration is cool as well, will match any car dash

the cd player is mp3 conpatable so if you burn a dvd mp3 disc (4.7 GB) then you can put around 700 songs on a disc)

being mp3 compatible doesn't mean it will read DVD disks...it has to be DVD compatible, but you can still make data disks on normal CD-R (700Mb)

okay the headsunit you have http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-cde9882ri-p-6423.html it says

The Alpine CDE-9882Ri CD/MP3 player with Full Speed Connection for iPod works via a simple supplied cable that directly links to an iPod without a bulky hideaway box.

i have an iphone so will it be ok? also what i meant to say is the cable for the ipod/iphone is it at the back? i havent got a aux output in my car.

and finaly just to make sure i have everything i need before i start,

the alpine headunit
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-cde9882ri-p-6423.html

alpine sub/amp with wiring kit
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-typer-pack-super-saver-p-7115.html

anything else i need? does that amp wiring kit include a power cable to go from the battery?

thanks for all the help.

looking at the website if you go to audio66 then the head unit is cheaper delivered than car audio undelivered (not sure if they charge delivery).

Audio66 unit

looking at all the wiring kits on there site all have power cables (i think all kits do anyway or you cant wire the amp ;))

you will probably need to buy a aerial booster for your aerial to work...

also the ipod cable is a connection is a long lead that if you make a grommet hole in the glove box you can feed through to the back of the head unit.

:D

also to use the steering wheel controls (if you have them) you need to purchase a skoda steering wheel interface
