oh na a full zorst on tdi makes them stupid loud mine was 99 decibels before i removed the cat

The cat isnt there to silence sound, so should still be that, with or without. Sounds about right for a full exhaust with no silencers as mine produced similar results earlier this year

So £550 for a td2 turbo if I was to exchange my 150 turbo?

And then a map on top, so roughly £850 ish not inc labour for turbo fitting.

I generally find that a map to suit the TD2 needs abit more work, so budget a little more for the remap, but yeah basically

Not having the cat will make it noisier (not stupid though). I used to run a Milltek resonated cat back system. Now the decat pipe's installed it is louder than previously.

Not seen any mention of a methanol/water injection kit? Is there something I'm missing here (like, do you guys know something about 'em that I don't?) I'd have thought with a remap and a meth/water injection you looking at 200hp easy, prob a bit more, and more torque, just have to remember to pack meth/water top up in the boot when your washer bottle light comes on

This is on 'my list' after the clutch is sorted out, can't do anything till it's uprated unless I want to kill off what's left of the current one.

Stock injectors can make 230+ easy so no need for water methanol if your aiming for 200 bhp.

Have you noticed a reduction in smoke output since the decat has been fitted?
Does the turbo spool up noticeably quicker with it fitted?

spool up should be noticably sooner , not sure on the smokey side of things tho ,

I removed the cat too on my FR TDi and the noise isn't a problem,even with a straight-through rear silencer....on the downside,there's a bit more smoke and less top-end power and torque(just had the remap redone for that) ...on the upside,the turbo spools up a little quicker thus the engine responds better at lower rpm and the sound when lifting off the throttle is great
