LCR Bulbs

Hello,

I have recently noticed that my LCR is missing a brake light! Does anyone know if this needs to be replaced with anything specific?

And in desperation I will ask for a Halfords part number to :p

I am also interested in changing the headlight bulbs to something better. Is there a bulb that is a straight swap? I did find this on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEAT-LEON-00-...emQQimsxZ20081108?IMSfp=TL0811081110001r35042

Would these be road legal and easy to change?

Thanks for any help!

which brake light is missing. - one of them in the light cluster?
if you are not sure what you need, take out the bulb from the other cluster and get another thats the same.
As far as im aware its nothing special. Just a brake light bulb. easy.

i cant remember if the brake light is in the rear wing or boot lid, but see pics below showing how to get to them!
(the trim has been removed to show the light clusters and th red arrows point to the clips you need to sqeeze to remove the light cluster).

in rear wing.

As for the headlight bulbs i will simply point out that the kit on Ebay would be illegal on your vehicle as the wattage is too high. Only early cars can use 100watt bulbs.

The brake light that is missing is the right hand side in the cluster. Any ideas what the Leons use? Or what bulbs I could use?

Thanks!

Edit:

I have also noticed I linked the wrong page. Let me find the other one!

as said above, look in the nearside light cluster (which i presume does have a bulb) then get one thats the same.

Failing that, simply go to a shop and say i need a brake light bulb.
The only thing you need to know is whether you have seperate bulbs for the brake light and rear driving lights, or if it has a twin element bulb which does both rear lights and brake light. (ie the same bulb gets brighter when you brake).

LIDL are doing a special offer on bulbs, they have an H7 set with about 5 diferent bulbs + fuses for £3.99.

No guarantee that the rear bulb will be correct, but probably worth the risk just for the headlight bulb.

i would not buy off ebay.
oh and they are also not hid. hid effect mayeb, but that just means they will not be that bright.

buy cheap pay twice or three times.

or 48 times. I bought some of those when i was more mentally challanged than i am now (I know its hard to believe!) and they were so dangerous and then just failed really quickly.

Lidl as in the German supermarket?

Those bulbs are a complete waste of money and fail after like 2 months. Spend a bit more and get proper HIDs

They have a 6 month guarantee though!

What would you suggest are good bulbs that will last, but not HID's?
(I will convert to HID, but need something in the meantime)

Cheers

I am thinking the same thing. Don't want to convert to HID really.

Just want some good quality bright bulbs. Legal though!

Yep, if you are not going hid, something osram or similar is generally worth the money :)

The problem with that guarantee is when it actually comes to trying to claim on it, you'd pay all the postage of sending it back and they'd say that it was mistreated or inserted incorrectly. They know their product is ****, thats why they sell it to the unsuspecting on ebay and put free samples of their product in max power magazine fo sho!
