Aftermarket head unit

Just wondering if there is a guide on fitting an aftermarket head unit?
Hoping to do it today.

Done a searchad found some answers but not a guide?

Done mine a few months ago. As other will tell you, there is a huge amount of info about this across the forum, albeit scattered everywhere.

Have you decided on where you're fitting it? Once that's done the rest is simply tapping into the existing wires and extending them. I have my stereo in the passenger side of the central console, with power coming from the lighter. Looks tidy as the wires can easily be run from underneath. As for a guide, I did see a pdf aroudn here somewhere of a guy hacking into the existing console to fit the aftermarket unit into there, that helped me with the wiring.

i spoke to my mate who owns ice direct in peterborough and states the best thing to to do with these is get a jl audio clean sweep. they cost the same as a head unit and act as one but it does not have a face but has your pre outs and and ipod connectivity etc.

what do you mean custom head units?? do they fit into the glove box or something?

No, I believe he takes your standard central console and modifies it to be able to fit your custom HU in the central console itself, i.e. where the factory radio buttons are... looks like a clean job

*edit: i'm sure you'll find a few pics of ppl who've had it done on here somewhere
