4 point harnesses

Just wondered if anyone had put 4 points in there ibiza and if so how they mounted them at the rear? I have the lap belt mountings sorted but its just the rears i'm struggling with as there is only 1 hole per side and i need 2 unless someone knows of an adaptor you can buy?

Look in my thread mate. Got 4 point harness'.

There are 2 seat belt holes in the middle and 2 on the side that you can mount them too.

Just found your post and it looks like you have fixed them to where the rear seat buckles used to be and the other to where the inertia bit of the rear seat belt was.id consider this but aint convinced as its only a thin bit of metal and with an eye bolt in it your pulling from the wrong angle

Mine are bolted in. No eye-bolt

See i aint really convinced that a strut brace is sufficient especially if there are 2 people in the car, the amount of force that would be put on that bar would be mega.

I thnk i'm just going to use the seat belt buckle hole and weld another anchor point about 1 foot to the side of it.

seperate bar bolted in (hopefully plated too mind) and to be honest a better angle for the belts and a better spread area for pressure

i'd rather wrap it round the bar/rollcage than an eye bolt anyday in fact i dont think i have seen many race cars with it any other way but admittedly it's integral to a full cage on them so rock solid

only difference i would have done is make sure it's back plated/welded (probably is tbh) and i have a habit of bolting em in diamond formation

My rear strut brace is in exactly the same place with 4 m8's either side, that bar and a bar incorperated in a full roll cage are 2 completly different things. Also if a car t bones that in the rear the bar will just get bent or puncture through the strut.

The reason i'm being so picky is because its a vital safety item and the only thing stopping you from going through the windscreen like a missile lol

4 m12 bolts either side.

also plated in arch.....cant see it going anywhere myself

shell is also double skin there...maybe even tripple, cant remember

thought it would have been plated to be honest

if you get t-boned it's gonna be safer than a standard belt as you will be held in more secure and suffer less body twist but then head twist is an issue then - ahh safety don't ya love it

then again if you get hit that hard ya belts are teh least of your worries

i remember days before belts weren't even legal or at best a lapbelt and the dashboards were made from single skin steel plate - still got the plates/scars to show what they can do in a full frontal in fact used to use leg/arm straps as extras in the grasser

Mines eye bolted to the rear seat bealt buckles. No probs here with 3" harenesses just a bit tight to get them in.

Is that with 3 point or 4 points? must be pretty tight getting 2 clips in there onto an eye bolt if thats what you've done. They arrive on friday so i can have a proper look then i suppose.

There are 2 rear seat belt holes. One for each sides "clipper". No point in putting 2 straps of a 4-point onto the same eye bolt as you be making it a 3 point basicly...

Agreed thats why i was asking. When you say there are 2 rear seat belt holes do you mean in total or per side makig it 4 in total. If so i'm guessing you mean the 1 for the buckle and the 1 for the inertia bit which is monted on a thin bit of metal which will be pulling from a funny angle and not straight up to a pivot like it would in standard trim.

Ps people are saying i've mounted mine here and they have been sound, BUT i'm guessing non of you have actually crashed with your harnesses so cant actually say there sound. Tbh i could be wrong and all the above instalations maybe very safe but i'm really not convinced and am worried about getting it wrong

There are 2 holes in the middle, and then the 2 thin bits at the side. If I were you I would just bolt the straps to the thin bits, even just use your eye bolt as a bolt, and then use the eye bolts in the middle like usual. I take it your stripping it out as well yeh?
