Cupra R - Electric Wingmirrors Behaving Weirdly

I've just had a new drivers door fitted to my Cupra R. I only collected the car late on Friday evening, so I've not been able to chat with the place that fitted it.

Anyways...whilst stopped at some traffic lights on my way home, I started to play with all the electrics controlled from the door just to make sure it was all working correctly. If I flick the knob to control the left mirror, that works fine. However, if I have the knob turned to the right it controls both mirrors. Anyone had anything similar?

It's meant to make it easier to set the mirrors up or something.

mines the same i think the idea is the left mirror adjusts automatically to whatever positon you put the right..... it likes to work out where you sit.

yes its very wierd i did the same thing myself after fitting a new mirror to my golf and couldnt work out what was up with it i tryed everything untill i heard it was a standard feature

I'm glad I asked, as if it wasn't the weekend I would have been on the blower to the bodyshop and sounded like a right idiot!

As said if you set the left mirror up, then decide you need to move your right one and forget to the the left, it automatically tracks where it thinks your sitting

this is weird as never noticed mine do that
mine seem to treat themselves as individual and not move left with right and i have an 04plate cupra

will play tomorrow and see but sure it's never done it

its a good feature if you know how to use it.

Set up the right hadn mirror first. (the left will be moving about).
then select left and set the left hand mirror up.
then put back to right mirror.

now, if you move the seat, or anyone else sits in the car, if they alter the right hand mirror, the left 'should' automaticallyalter to the appropriate place for that driver.

my first cupra even allowed you to set anothe position for the left mirror when in reverse. very nie feature indeed, i tended to have the left mirror drop down a bit so you can view the curb when parking.

Well you learn something new every day, I had a play today and sure enough the mirrors operated as described above. Never noticed this before, probably because I only looked at the mirror that was being adjusted at the time.

Sadly, it was linked to the leather electric memory seats that it had.
You could even teach the car different key fobs so that wheni used my key to unlock the door the seats automatically went to my pre-set position if someone else had moved it!

had a play and yep, passenger mirror moved when driver mirror moved
kinda freaked me a little at first and didn't really find it of use - my car me driver so not much chance of it being moved
anyway, i look at the drivers mirror when moving so don;t car what passenger does and same when looking at that

just wish it could point at curb when selecting reverse

wow this is ace. i thought my mirrors were knackered by youths pulling one back but it turns out the mirrors are just more intelligent than me.

if you dont have electric seats but want the passenger mirror to dip when reversing, all i can suggest is that you set the drivers and passenger mirrors up for normal driving, but leave the knob on the left hand mirror, when you park you just need to press 'down' onthe knob for a second or so and you can see the curb. not as handy as it being automatic, but not much hassle either.

Had my car in late November & this was one of the first things I noticed (I must be a little anal or something!) - but I thought they were knackered too!

I remember this feature from my 2000 Toledo. I never understood it and it used to frustrate the crap out of me. I thought either the electrics had gone funky or i was going mad.
Its not on my 03 Cupra though and thats got the electric memory seats, so at some point between 2000 and 2003 SEAT must have taken it out- Maybe realising that noone reads the car's manual and none of the dealers can be arsed to explain it..
