SEAT: World Touring Car Champions

SEAT achieves the overall victory in the FIA World Championship for the first time and the first world title of a diesel-engined car in the history of motor sports. SEAT does also secure the Drivers’ world title since two of their drivers, Muller and Tarquini, will be fighting for the World Championship in Macau.

The victories achieved today in Japan with two different car models, the petrol WTCC and TDI WTCC, were the key for the final triumph. As the final highlight of an excellent season, SEAT has become 2008 World Touring Car Champion today, at the Japanese racetrack of Okayama

Fantastic result for SEAT, and good to see their efforts finally repaid. Just watching the races now from my Sky recordings, Rydell was great in a wet race one.

SEAT look to be pretty much guaranteed the drivers crown too, but who will it be? Yvan or Gabrielle.

I think the money is on Yvan really, but who knows what might happen at Macau, that first corner there is terrible

However the 2nd race result has been suspended pending FIA investigation anyway which includes Gabrielle.

Apparently the rules on weight etc are all changing next year, and both SEAT and BMW appear to have agreed the new changes.
