lol up this way its turned in banzai! whenever someone asks why did you get one of them? i just say it could be worse, i could have come back with a honda like EVERYONE else!

I know what you mean, a couple of my mates have honda's and all I get is 'You should get rid of the Ibiza and buy yourself a Honda'.

If I wanted a Honda I would of bought one but I didnt, I bought the Ibiza.

The local Cr0000000z boys always try it on with me and the GTi in their saxo's, punto's, ZR's and Zetec S's.

They never seem to learn that its not about stick on graphics, spoilers, exhausts the size of tesco value bean tins and 20 inch scrubbing rims. Its about a good all round car coupled to good driving. Soon as i lure them through the suburbs (nice speed bumps for em;)) and out onto country lanes its only a matter of minutes before the headlights fade from my rear view mirror.

Ollie,

Ahm, no, couple of days ago!! hehe

Battery died, completely. Took it out for a spin (45 mins) on Wednesday night, by Thursday 10.00am it was dead again. It had been going flat quite quickly (numerous jump starts in the last week or so) but it was lasting a few days at least!

Of course with no battery I had to lock with the key, and that set the old alarm off. Doesn't help that the door locks are a bit dodgy (dead fob) so it was a pain to turn off!!

Spent another £38 in Halfords and all is well again.

Now I'm pondering getting my rust sorted and (finally, I hear you say) lowering it.

Phill,
Consider yourself lucky :)

It does need to go lower. I think tractor stance is 'played out'! Will probably get the rusty bits sorted out first though.

I'll either get the mk2 up-together body wise, or wait till I graduate and sell up. Undecided at the minute, probably depends on how much it'll cost me to sort the bodywork!

PS how many sets of wheels have you got?!!

A *lot* of prepping to be done mate! (With a screwdriver at the back end, I think)

1.8t would be tempting. The 8v is more warm hatch than hot hatch by modern standards! For some strange reason (self harm?) I would be half tempted to have a crack at it myself

Not too bad off a standing start though!
Know what you mean, as I said to you before that is why I held out till I found a 16v. A 1.8t would soon change that though ;)

There is a body shop between me and you that I have been told good things about - will try digging the name out if you have no joy up in Luff ****

That might be handy mate.

Thing with the 1.8t is, for the money it would cost, say 4k-ish to pay someone to do it, you may as well buy a mk3. And there are quite a few other cars I'd be looking at in that price range. Don't really know where to go next!
