Not really a problem,

for you guys that have fitted the TT short shift was it just a matter undoing the bolt that holds the shifter down and giving it a really good pull?

Reason i ask is ive done just this and i cant seem to budge it, I wasnt sure if there was a certain way of getting it off?

I dont want to break anything as it looks like im going to have to spend enough money sorting it out as it is.

Cheers.

Yeah just wiggle it like fook, or if you have got a pulley puller that works a treat, just put the 13mm nut on a couple of threads and the puller can use that to pull against.

I dont usually give away secrets, but on this occation i will. To remove shifter from the spline you must remove the 13mm nut, then get an 8mm deep 3/8 drive socket with a long extention bar and place this over the spline. One or two hits on the end of the extension with a soft blow hammer will free off the shifter.

The TT shifter will fit most MK3's. It should be fine on your sport.

Its not a kit mate its just the shifter off a FWD Audi TT genuine part, sorry I dont have the part no handy, I got mine from TTS a good while ago for about £20, but any dealer should be able to get you one in.

Cheers guys,

I ended up using a small pry bar under the shifter and it came off in seconds.

Great mod for the price has made the gear changes alot nicer although it didnt sort my gearing issue  (not that i thought it would.)

Wonder if anyone could help.. Tried fitting this the weekend but couldnt get the original out. Undone the bolt and everything however it seemed to be catching on a little metal piece that went over the end of it. (other end to the handle looking bit).

Anyone else have this problem. Hard to explain can take pictures if need be.
