They have been able to pull out and overtake for years yet I didnt here anyone else threatening to leave. Sore losers :ban: In the first few races of 07 I remember Martin Haven sayin it was a BMW whitewash. Now that SEAT are kicking there overpriced holes they go crying to the fia.:gay: I hope Chevy pass them in the championship

It's BMW's fault it's so expensive to compete in the championship anyway. Had they not insisted on the S2000 rules, we'd have had similar, cheaper rules close to the old BTCC-spec regulations.

I read somewhere that the BMW costs twice as much as the SEAT.
Then they go on about the extra cost of diesels[:@]

It's about £180k for the basic 320Si from BMW I think. Then you have the add-ons which put the price up. There are lots of upgrades you can buy from them to bring them more into line with the WTCC works cars, which obviously costs more and more. One of the most ridiculous is a super thin oil which costs £2k for a small drum and adds some extra BHP to your engine.

Dose that open the door for them to come into BTCC??

Possibly. I hope so. I know I am sure they (Schnitzer) competed before in the BTCC during the Super Touring days and I hope they will be excellent competition for Vauxhall in how hard they will be to beat.

One thing that in a way gives me some small advantage is whilst most of you guys are in a way sworn to following SEAT as a marque because most of you guys own a SEAT, I do not own a SEAT as cannot drive to save my life and my support is based solely on a growing fondness for their many involvements in motorsport. A growth since 2005. As a single-make championship (SCC and Euro Cup), works teams and Independent teams. So I do I suppose have a certain amount of freedom.

Could someone please educate this novice in the ways of touring car racing at the level of running in it by giving atleast a rough estimate of the costs involved in a team shipping out of one championship and running in another?

I know the promblem seem to be, to them, unhappiness with the current regs (though I feel it may have something to do with this new M3 Schnitzer are making for the ALMS), but let us say they do pull out of the WTCC and do the BTCC. How much better or worse off financially would they be in terms of spending/running costs if they formed for example a similar if smaller operation in the BTCC to the one they ran in the WTCC where they probably support an RBM team with Jackson and Priaulx by giving them cars but the technical support continues with the UK BMW dealer but also a full BMW works team to be ran as BMW. Or even the one you mentioned Andy where BMW put their full backing behind running Andy Priaulx and Mat Jackson.

What would BMW be spending if they jumped ship to the BTCC?
