Is it really true thats it not possible to measure the oil temperature in a LCR without using aftermarket gauges?

What about vagcom? Or does the sensor not exsist at all?

Yes it has !?

It should be in the sump, just above the drain :
Combined oil level & temperature sensor.

Pressure sensor is located at oil filter.

there may well be something in the sump but can you read the values? my oils hit 130 with triggering any warnings. i wonder if its similar to oil pressure where theres no reading as such , just a warning light when its too late:D (although theres nothing on the dash that could light up for oil temp is there?)

It is a single sender in the sump but the documentation calls it an oil level/oil temperature sender. However, I think it is a simple on/off sensor i.e. switches the output if the oil level falls below a preset minimum or the oil temperature exceeds a preset maximum.

The oil pressure sensor is separate and is mounted in the oil filter assembly. Again this is an on/off sensor.

any idea what temp it would trigger?

Aye fair enough, there shouldn't be pressure in the sump as its gravity fed:redface:

Not 100% sure on this... but try the codes on the Climate Control...

Amongst that large list, maybe you will find Oil temp...

on my gauges it seems to take an eternity for my oil to reach optimum temp i.e 90 deg....i timed it takes 7 mins for waterto be optimum but a further 10 -12 mins for the oil to get to 90.......my journey is only 20 mins anyway lol.....

before the gauges were brought i was boosting about 5 mins after the water was hot...maybe that was a huge mistake?..

btw i have defi BF link meter gauges so they should be spot on

i tend to hold back and start pushing a little more once the needle starts moving past 50/60. i dont redline but gentle encouragement tends to move the needle quicker.

wouldnt thrash it until at its usual temp of 85/90.

My coolant heats up in about 5 mins. Oil I reckon takes another 5-10mins. And like you my commute is only 20 mins, so I'm driving like a granny all the way. Occasionally I put my foot down but only after 10mins minimum, as I know it's at least warm. A bad idea?

id give it at least 15mins from a cold morning start up.
