Lights steaming up, well from a recent embarrassing experience, I can say without doubt that if all the rear covers are not fitted correctly to the light clusters, then water will get into the clusters (washed the car after checking the front indicator bulbs and 12 hours before going for an MOT - not a good idea!).

You could drill the light covers for the front lights .. after a few hours they'll clear and stop steaming up .. the inner side of my have a few holes and my lights have never steamed up since. Just don't do to many or make the holes to large

Creaking front end - ARB problem and/or TCA rear bushes - lots of postings on these two problems both here and on www.briskoda.net (Fabia forum). I thought the 3 cylinder TDI was a "jolly" engine - the 1.4 16V 75PS certainly is not unless you yank it up to 3K+ and keep it there. Very little low end torque, not much high end power and average MPG - all in all a not too good package - about as good class-wise as VW's previous 1.6 petrol engine (both near the bottom of their class - why does VAG always end up chucking out engines like this?)

the 1.4tdi is a nice ,little engine and had got some power for the engine size but then i get on me 98bhp 650cc and think hmm the tdi is rather slow hehe.

im having me 1.4tdi remapped so it will go from 75bhp to 105-110bhp
145 lbtorque to 180 ptorque

About the cd changer. these can be a bit of a pig to fit. i take it you have the original alana radio in the car? anyway, i fitted a cd changer to mine, most of them are compatible. To do this you need to buy the right changer that will match your radio, mine is a sony cdx-t69. Then you need to buy an adaptor from the dealers (well that's where i had mine from lol) these are about £30 i think, a bit of a rip off. Once you've got these parts you need to remove the head unit and shelf below it, connect the changer cables into the adaptor, then plug the adaptor into the matching socket at the back of the head unit. The adaptor has to be basically stuffed inside the dashboard out of site then put the head unit back in place once all connected. Run the 3 cables along the passenger side footwell, I just stuffed all mine underneath the plastic sills and then into the boot where the changer is. i just stuck mine down with double sided tape, i didn't want to drill holes in my car! lol. I still think it's probably easier to get an ipod, which i might do soon.........

My wife had dismissed the 1.4TDI as one of her friends had a Polo 1.4TDI and traded it in against a second hand Golf 1.6 petrol as she didn't like the three cylinder feeling (I think). So as this car was being bought for mainly her use - I could not argue!

Just had the remap done today

it shud now be about 105-110bhp from 75bhp and 185 torque from 145

plus ive had a green panel filter aswell

pulls a hell of alot better more torque when you need it and it will now pull away quickly in 5th gear at 70mph on motorways etc. before the map you cud be doing 70 and put your foot down and it wud take forever to pick up

Id Definetly recomment a remap

I put my 8 disc cd changer in the glove box :)
If you go on the addacdchanger.co.uk site you can buy the changer with the correct interface for your head unit.

its the standard mp3 head unit, but it also worked in my old 1.2 with standard head unit. to get discs 7 & 8 you hold down button 4 to do a cd scan.

you might notice black smoke from the exhaust once its remapped, and especially if the exhaust is replaced, I have used millers on mine and it has improved it, but I have already grown to like the fact if people tail gate me I can cover them!
