just need to cross your fingers that it hasn't been ragged too much when it was in the golf !!!! :D

I know.

The Golf was totally standard at the breakers, but im keeping my fingers crossed anyway.

I will know tomorrow when i fit it.

Thanks for all the help.

All done and it works perfect.
All i had to do was drill a hole in the gear selector rod on the gearbox as the old one had two, very easy.:D

The clutch is not even a year old and it has only done about 3000 miles so i didnt bother.
Feels so much nicer without that horrible whine noise it had when pressing the throttle.
Can enjoy driving it for abit now.:)

i know this is an old topic but i thought it sounded a bit similar to a funny noise ive heard on my car.

not sure if its a gear box noise or a clutch noise but when im changing gear to 3rd, 4th and 5th, i can hear a "clunk" sound when im nearly off the clutch.......this happens only if im giving a bit of welly!! .... if i change gear slowley and carefully (like a granny) it makes no noise??

not sure what it could be really, ive only been driving the car about 2 weeks and i didnt notice anything on the test drive.

other than that, the cars been driving great!! cant fault it at all.....its quite nippy for a 1.4, my last car was an esi civic (127bhp) but i enjoy driving the ibiza nearly as much as the civic (well about 75% as much lol :D)

does your clutch seem to stick as you hear the clunk noise?

is it hard to push in?

when the car is ticking over and in neutral press and release the clutch a few times , is there a noise when the the clutch is released? and not when pressed?

if so it could be the thrust bearing.
