Go directly to a place that suppliers the garages, for example Andrew Page...who I happen to work for. We supply the likes of Halfords etc. You are looking at about £2 for normal wipers and under £10 for aero ones!

If you have the aero front wipers then they are made by Bosch, by buying Bosch replacements from Halfords you are getting yourself a set of OEM blades, same as VAG would sell you but in a Bosch packet, for less than you could have them delivered from Ebay if you bought VAG there. Lots of people supply garages - well aftermarket anyway, but I'd rather buy ones that work well out of the box and for a long period, than buy some for next to nothing that could end up causing you an accident on a wet night! Brand marketing sometimes forces you to pay more for the same item - I've just pointed out how if you have aero front wipers, you can play the smart game and buy the correct parts for less.

We supply Bosch and Valeo, I wouldn't put anything less on my car, and these are dead cheap from us! We do however sell really really cheap stuff which is just shocking!

They seem to sell Trico, well I'm old enough to have been messing with cars when Trico were the supplier of choice for UK built cars - so they seemed to be very good. I do not know who now owns or rents out the Trico brand name, but I think that they are living on the original Trico's good name. In case you have not worked it out, Lucas, similarly does rent out its name for use in markets it no longer operates in ie car bulbs - these Lucas bulbs for instance are rubbish made in some developing part of the world and not by the original Lucas Industies. We are being "rogered" when we give in to buying this sort of stuff. I was certainly "rogered" when I paid more in Halfords for Bosch "Premium Bulbs" - they were exactly the same model and manufacturer as sold as Halfords own brand - Bosch also seem to have moved out of the car bulb market - VAG always seem to choose Philips for factory fit, I just wish I could find them in places like Halfords as they seem to be reliable.

Is Valeo not the other main wiper manufacturer that VAG uses - ie on older or non-aero wipers? Trouble is, where can us punters rely on finding a full range of this stuff? Halfords works okay for Bosch VAG aero blades (at the moment), but Valeo, well that seems to be different if you want the exact replacement blades - I'm being a pain here as I have a Passat and that car was fitted with curved blades - most aftermarket parts outlets compress their stock and can only supply straight blades. The brake parts outlets are no better I've found. BTW, I was one of these very clever people that bought new aero blades from Ebay - genuine VAG ones at a good price, then when I fitted them discovered that the originals and the new VAG ones were identical and both were Bosch!! Just had to drop into Hafords and check their Bosch aero blades - just the same thing - and cheaper once you add in the postage!!!! Ah, experience and knowledge is it not a burden?!?!

I missed that - I think, I was not suggesting changing from say Valeo to Bosch where Valeo were factory fit, I was pointing out using "Bosch" Bosch to replace "VAG" Bosch where that was factory fit is usually cheaper.

Probably the best bet and the most costly unfortunately, would be to check out the prices for new arms at your local Seat dealer, then maybe check same with VAG PARTS.

I think if you personally have been quite happy with what you bought last time, then by all means repeat it, I was just voicing some of the bad choices I had made and anything I had picked up along the way.

were can i get the aero wipers or a adapter so i can be a tight arse and get the cheaper in halfords:D

i have the old wiper arm which has the big hook on the end!

If you have the U bend wiper arm, all you need is the Bosch Aerotwin Retrofit wipers. I must have spent the last 2 weeks (on & off) trying the find the cheapest seller! In the end, I got them from ebay by a seller called autoorders.

One thing I did learn was don't ebay search for "Seat Ibiza bosch aerotwin", search ebay using the Bosch product code "AR533S". That way, you definitely getting the correct pair for the Ibiza and extending the search results. More importantly, you may stumble on a cheaper pair. As long as there is a AR533S in the product title/description, it doesn't matter if it says it for a Skoda Fabia, VW Golf or Bora because it's the same one!
