another one then........

when i sold my AM04 to chris i fitted it to his car with a JBS Manni, fitted them both before bolting on to head/dp, so i know they were nice and tight and flanges were very flush

3 days later i got a call of him because they were blowing.... met up with him and found the 3 nuts had come VERY lose, tightened up and all was fine..... then again they come loose, i told him to get on the phone to JBS because they kept coming loose and maybe get some replacements, they basically fobbed him off BIG time (very unprofessional on JBS's part)

Chris is now taking his car to another company to fit some nuts they say WILL NOT come loose

i know its no productive info for you, just letting you know your not the first to have these loose nuts issue with this manni

and to top it all off they told chris they wont be making any more manifolds like this

would be interested to know if RobDon has had any issues like this???

As dave said my nuts keep coming loose too on my manifold have kept tighting them up but they still come loose and getting to point now where if tighten them any more will round the heads.

I went to a garage that i always use and have been great at fixing my car and they said they were the wrong type of nuts on there for an exhaust manifold. So when i get the money im taking it to them to get the nuts changed and hopefully will be all sorted then but at £55 per hour and they think be at least 1.5 hours isnt going to be cheap to do.

Spoke to JBS who didn't seem to think there was a problem, but with someone else having a similar problem, seems like one might be developing

very interesting to see the same issues here....[:@]

when I called JBS they were adament it was the turbo and nothing to do with the manifold what so ever

the bolts and nuts are the ones supplied from JBS (and no for once it is not the quality of the ATP turbo)

I called AMD today with the diagnosis who are ordering in a Seat gasket ready to fit on wednesday

think I will give them another call and see what they actually say about the bolts and nuts, because due to you guys (thank you) for saying that you have also had the same issue, then I will ask AMD what nuts and bolts they fit to their manifolds (hopefully better ones) and get them to fit these as well

while they are at it, the oil restrictor is finally going on too, so thats another peace of mind to reduce the oil pressure, which from what Rob was saying may have played a part in the downfall of his original spec ATP turbo.....

driving the car home tonight and its hissing, spitting and spluttering and jerky on low boost, and speaking to Simon at AMD says this is most definitely a symptom of a failed gasket and a leak some where (IMO I trust what AMD say rather than JBS)

cheers mate. if by reading your sig you have a few subtle mods....then yes an FMIC is essential

what power you looking for?

have a FMIC allready but too restrictive on the am04 so getting custom one made up with custom pipe work.

about 280-290 i think it'll be when all right.

why not get a Forge or Pro Alloy one....? must be cheaper than a custom one made up?

i got 280's with that turbo on 3 different sets of rollers

:EDIT: with chris's turbo that is, GT2x i imagine would be more like 290's but with slightly more lag, GT2x hybrid will be more again i would hope

most i have seen on these forums is 285 I think on the gt2x

maybe hybrid a bit more, but not a lot i dont think (hybrid treatment was more to do with stability of the turbo)

think it (am04 )will struggle to flow over 290 bhp but im sure youll give it a dam good go.

think itll be near it but not expecting it to be over 300 bhp the midrange will be alot better and still get really early spool up hitting full boost around 2800rpm so its going to be quick on the road.

as dave allways says its not the max power its the power under the graph and how long it holds it for.

yea i changed it just after ( too mch carling ) , 290 at a push and then you are maxing it out and serverly cutting its lifespan. I say run a turbo to 85-90% of its capability and that way it "should" last. ( disclaimer : if it still goes boom its not MY fault )

AM04 will NOT flow 300bhp, not a chance, GT2x Hybrid...... maybe

do you reckon.....I would be very sceptical even with hybrid treatment

who knows.....

either Robdon or I will be able to confirm this at some point (prob Rob first if I ever get mine sorted lol)
