*** UPDATE ***

I've spoken to the dealer today, they've had a breakthru,

Car on run from cold - Slight Judder
Car warmed up - ALOT

They've now replaced the wheel Hub & Bearing on the nearside - when my better half drives I hear a slight humm sound from the nearside (passenger).

I've thought this may be bearings, but on inspection theres absolutely no play in the wheel. so now, this has put a different light on it

My Q. what you all think

p.s. new pads fitted, new disk's going on too

A wheels bearing going will not always give wheel play but might still give you noise.
To diagnose a wheel bearing find a straight deserted road, get car up to 60 mph ish. Take the car out of gear, radio off, weave the car left and right a few times and listen very closely. If the bearing is on its way out you will hear it.

£225? I've had quotes allot more than that......where the.....?

Im not entertaining the fact of getting new ones, I know I want my calipers looking nice and red as they rolled off the factory, but new ones is too much ! :D

If anyone has followed the post of refurbing - come on over, I supply tea, coffee, beer, biscuits - id even stretch to a donner :)

Dunno about the brakes, but the mighty Bill sounds about right.

On the whirring, though I had two instances of whirring that sounded like it was coming from the front - one WAS the front offside, the other was the back nearside  Just thought I'd mention it.

Out of interest how hot is it normal for discs to get? After a normal run home tonight I checked the temp of my discs and they were too hot to keep contact with. Both discs the same temp mind you, so I'm hoping it's normal (only tried fronts, LCR Brembos). One stop from 60-0 about 3-4 minutes before parking up and checking, not particularly hard braking though.

Brakes work fine apart from the bloody annoying squeaking / squealing they make...

And another question - is copper grease the only solution for squealers? Pads have plenty of life, discs have a small lip but nothing significant.

Scuse the thread hijack...

***** UPDATE *****

Got the car back from Grants Seat in Braintree last Friday, they've had it for two weeks, and have replaced the wheel hub and bearing.

So far so good... no dodgy vibration, but I've only done 375 miles, it normally happens at around 1,200 miles... but they are confident they have found and fixed the problem.

Cheers,
Mark

****** UPDATE 15th OCTOBER ******

Well the car has gone into Seat today for 70k service, and..... the judder is back...

The guys really are getting no help from SEAT TECHNICAL either, and are shocked its come back, same side too.

Last time it went in for two weeks they replaced disk, pads, and HUB & Bearing, stripped down the caliper and its perfect. They wish they could have a donner car to take caliper off and put onto mine and test.

they are going to look again today, and I think I may be facing buying a brembo caliper... out of curiosity how much would a caliper cost from a dealer, or another supplier?

I see from Junior £225...where from?

ANY thoughts what it might be?
