Mine made a screeching noise when it came on boost, was the compressor wheel touching the side, whistling sounds more like an air leak.

Both should be covered under warranty yes, if mani has cracked JBS should replace it, if turbo has gone CR should rebuild it, depending on what's wrong they may or may not charge.

You didn't fit the oil restrictor did you?

My VF34 whistles. Engine pulls fine with good power, just sounds like your grandad is in the passenger seat whistling tunes over 22psi.

Car has been fine so I've left it, but when the new turbo goes on I'll take a look.

Will be interested to see what's up with yours.

not going to be seeing you this weekend then I guess

Is it a possible case of the turbo coming loose.. Stainless manifolds will expand big time over cast ones. The fitting bolts maybe are not staying tight. 1st thing to check I think.

When you fancy a nice BT kit... when I'm in my unit.. all things are possible.
got to fit my own GT2871R onto the Octy when I get a mo, to replace the POS thing thats on there now.
Will be getting a T25 flanged version of my mani made, not external gated for the lower end BT's.

You aint having a lot of luck are you.

ATP is kit I will never fit. (before and after reading threads like these)

Good luck. You need it

HI Bill

just dropped you a pm:) (and yes I will be coming to you for a BT if this goes down the route of "worst case scenario and a cracked turbo, as I wont be using any ATP products again)

well I managed to get time to look at it last night (unfortunately did not have time when it started with the issue the other night) and one of the bolts was loose from the turbo to JBS manifold

I tightened this up, but still there is a whistle. I suspect if one bolt has come loose then the others are also loose, but I will be damned if I can get to them....so hoping its just this

I remember when I had the k03s conversion put onto my Ibiza this happened, but after a few sessions of tighetening the bolts, it all settled in and did not happen again.....I think this might be the case...as you said Bill with the mani expanding etc I guess this also needs to settle in

unfortunately I dont have the time to do this, due to distance of work and other matters so it's still going into AMD to have the bolts checked....or all of it taken off :(

although I cannot see how the other bolts can be checked or tightened without it all having to be taken off, or indeed how they were tightened in the first place...garages have magic tools indeed:D

the turbo is still performing fine...and I think if it was goosed then I would presume it would be impacting the performance of it?

these are just niggling issues....which I hope do not result in anything serious

well I managed to get time to look at it last night (unfortunately did not have time when it started with the issue the other night) and one of the bolts was loose from the turbo to JBS manifold

another one then........

when i sold my AM04 to chris i fitted it to his car with a JBS Manni, fitted them both before bolting on to head/dp, so i know they were nice and tight and flanges were very flush

3 days later i got a call of him because they were blowing.... met up with him and found the 3 nuts had come VERY lose, tightened up and all was fine..... then again they come loose, i told him to get on the phone to JBS because they kept coming loose and maybe get some replacements, they basically fobbed him off BIG time (very unprofessional on JBS's part)

Chris is now taking his car to another company to fit some nuts they say WILL NOT come loose

i know its no productive info for you, just letting you know your not the first to have these loose nuts issue with this manni

and to top it all off they told chris they wont be making any more manifolds like this

would be interested to know if RobDon has had any issues like this???

isn't the Octy ex JBS demo car? and isn't JBS / CC still one of the main sponsors of your Castle Combe ickle yellow beeza??

No and No in answer.

Car has £1000's of receipts @ JBS from EddyH the previous owner but it was not their car. Might as well have been tho :p It was a nice PR for them and is a tidy car.

Ibiza is not CC sponsored m8. that was last year and before.

The turbo on it still sux tho on its power delivery and it is no where near its claimed power figure as sold as once having (with dyno plot to prove - lol)

New tubby is here, just getting gaskets together and taking a deep breath to remove the old setup and see what has actually been going on. Its lag is far higher than any reasonably working turbo, so until I have it removed I wont know (a) what spec it actually is-GT3071R on an invoice, and (b) not know if its just buggered for some reason.

Full boost until 5500rpm is kinda laggy. Ibiza's far larger turbo would kick its royal arse in every respect including spool, less lag etc.. Summats plain weird with it.
Its a weird spec of parts, supertech oversize intake valves in a std non ported smallport head??? Its 83mm pistons of unknown compression ratio. (JE's)

all will be revealed no doubt.
hoping not to find too many horrors inside. (possible thought is wasetgate is burnt away hence lag and such shite spool as its got an internal leak.)

Its got a spec clutch too! thinking i should be worried perhaps.
on its 2nd g'box too, as the one it came with crunched in 3rd from purchase, then jammed in 3rd when it broke selector internally. joy..

Miss the S8. That worked lovely.

This will be fine when I'm done with it.
All that aside it drives nice, is a ncie car, well spec'd, so when all nice in the power delivery dept, it will be a complete package again.

GT2871R should be nice compromise of power & delivery, and with its 4wd traction is never an issue.

As dave said my nuts keep coming loose too on my manifold have kept tighting them up but they still come loose and getting to point now where if tighten them any more will round the heads.

I went to a garage that i always use and have been great at fixing my car and they said they were the wrong type of nuts on there for an exhaust manifold. So when i get the money im taking it to them to get the nuts changed and hopefully will be all sorted then but at £55 per hour and they think be at least 1.5 hours isnt going to be cheap to do.

Spoke to JBS who didn't seem to think there was a problem, but with someone else having a similar problem, seems like one might be developing

the std copper plated steel-loc nuts have worked fine for me. What sort of nuts are on your manifold then?
you are describing the manifold to head nuts?
OR turbo to manifold bolts
