my ibiza has now become my track-slag-on-a-budget project now so i'm now tooling around in an automatic old mans estate that i got given for nowt!! thing is though, turns out to be a bit of a street sleeper!! not as heavy as it looks (1410kg) rear wheel drive, LSD, 2.6L straight 6 12v with 175bhp and 200lb/ft of torque!! 140mph is very acheivable in this thing!!! (on a private test track!) the bloody thing even corners well!! and yet chavs will just assume it's an old man with a cloth cap havin a sunday drive!! i've really warmed up to the old girl now. it's very comfortable, very quiet, not that bad on fuel (33mpg if the wife drives!) and it even cleaned up ok!! and did I mention it was free!:funk::funk::funk:

so here it is, landbargius maximus!!

I never claimed it was pretty!! all adds to the effect!! at least the wood in there looks a bit more convincing than the "walnut" effect in my old rover 600 turbo!

scary thing is, if this 2.6 12v can manage an fairly easy 140mph (130 comes up in 3rd very rapidly!!) imagine what the full fat 3L 24v one will do!! and you can pick them up for about 500 quid!!

a bit like the 8v/16v beeza comparison - believe me though there is a reason they are cheap - just dont do it pleeeease :headhurt:

i think you're fairly safe mate!! not many about, and all the decent ones are enthusiast owned and will never part with them!! not quite the same comparison either cos the gsi has physically got a bigger engine. but it would be a fair comparison with the 12v gsi against the 24v one though!! a similar argument goes on to the age old 8 vs 16v ibiza!! similar pro's/con's too! 12v is much quicker off the line and has hoooge midrange torque and the 24v needs to be revved to keep the power on but has a quicker top end. i think i'll be sticking with 2.6 barge!! it seems to have the best of both. it has nearly as much bhp as the 12v gst but more torque cos mine uses the dual ram system from the 24v (the 12v doesn't have it!) so i end up with a very grunty 12v midrange with good top end power and a 6900rpm redline thanks to the dual ram!:funk:

gave the old girl a good old service today! runs very smoothly now! modded the airbox a bit (it was breathing through a 1 1/2" hole!) and fitted a ken & nige panel filter. goes like stink now! mahoosive induction noise and a real hard kick at 4k rpm when the dual ram changes over. some chav in a viper striped Sanitary Towel ferrari-esta 150 found out just how potent this thing is! bye bye mr ferrari-esta!! (sorry...i am a very childish cretin in a car!:ban:)

Does the video show where they were, perfectly legal to do that kinda thing if your on a track or old airfield could even be an autobahn.

Mr Police will have to waste a whole lotta time and resources to prove anything just to get a bit of a fine and a six month ban instead of catching mugists, rapists and burglarists!

Actually i've gone wrong there they will do precisely that because they probably won't have to face a dosed up crack addict with a machette ready to go 20 rounds with a mutant aligator when they've solved the clues! (pussys)

That's funny never seen an old airfield with loads of traffic on it and a roundabout, also autobahns are in Germany and are IIRC dual carriageway's and they drive on the right over there too! lol

And sure like in this story the police will never follow up on it! :D

btw what the hell is a mugist? surely you mean a mugger? ;)
