except that people buy subaru's because the their 4wd turbo engines, neither of which are permitted under S2000 rules

Well they can just run RWD then and they do have a 2 litre unit.
Lamborghini have 4wd but its RWD in the GT championship

When the WRC rules change in 2010 to S2000+ regs, the WTCC is supposedly going to adopt turbo engines, so the rules may be more closely matched by then.

that would get over the turbo issue, same as SEAT.

Shame the current Impreza looks like an Astra chewing a wasp :sick:

Do ya think SEAT will stay with the Leon or go with the new Exeo(better aerodynamics)

Would love to think they will go with the Exeo from about 2010 and use turbo charged petrol which is allowed under the revised regs for the WTCC from 2009 I think.

I dunno about the fact the engine has to be 2ltr. Sounds like it won't be a very big engine so power may be at a premium.
