Made A Decision to keep the car and make it 'mint'

Over the last few months Ive been debating about getting a gti or not, but Ive decided to keep my current Ibiza (1.4).

Some people may say I'm mad as I've just turned 21 and I'm keeping the 1.4 but I have several reasons:

1) Ive just spent around £500 on it getting stuff done, brakes, 4 new tyres etc. Plus I have just got a new set of rear shocks through warrenty.

2) Its pretty much an everyday car and it isnt costing me loads to run, even if I drive with a heavy right foot.

3) I just cant face selling it just yet

So the plan is to get it looking pretty much mint. Get any dents etc removed and possibly a front end/whole respray.

But for the time being Ive got a new tax disc holder to put in:

Ive got a black one.

Ive got my carbon effect B-pillar and tailgate decals on order which will be going on when I get them. Im putting in a white interior light bulb and planning to get white numberplate bulbs and still considering a set of HID's. And its going in next thursday to the the rear shocks changed and the strut brace fitted.

Thats all for now but I will keep updated as I do other things.

Thanks all, Craig.

Thats the idea I thought of. If my engine gives up thats the route I may go down. I like the mk2 shape etc so much more than the mk3 and mk4 ibiza. Plus its my first car so I think it holds abit of sentimental value.

That's what i'd do. Get the car looking and handling how you want it, then when you can afford the extra for insurance etc...drop a bigger engine in it.

not a bad move mate, petrol prices is silly at the moment but has been worse recently6 too

I know, thats what I thought. Although I dont understand it cos oil prices are dropping because no-one is buying it .

If I had use of a company vehicle then I would get a gti because I would only be using that at the weekend, but my car is a work horse so there isnt much point tbh.

Thats what I think I'm going to do. The handling is nearly there, need a set of spacers and it should be fine.

Was it you that said something about you liking the mk2 shape more and couldnt see yourself driving another car?? Im sure I read it on another thread.

Oh and I have a set of front strut covers to put on the front. Thanks Crezz :D

Thats after my engine bay is cleaned and my Green filter is cleaned and re-oiled. Thats if it stays dry enough. Plus the rear arches will be getting cleaned out and all the mud removed.

Made alittle bit of progress today. Got my Green air filter out ready to be cleaned. Put my old filter in so I can use the car while I clean it. Its was quite an akward job because of my strut brace being abit in the way. But after alot of swearing etc :censored: I got it out ready for cleaning.

Also gave the underside of my bonnet a wipe ready to be further cleaned, but that will have to wait until I get a dry day or too. Got my tax disc holder etc through the post so that will be going aswell.

Ive still got the strut covers to put on. But those are going on once my engine bay has been given a clean. Im going to the dealers tomorrow to collect my pillar foils and the one for around the numberplate aswell then they will be going on once the car is washed.

I got a spare set of the carbon fibre door trims, ordered some from Seat and my mate ordered me a set.... couldn't cancel either of them so got 2 lots for the door trim.

Whats the part number you got for the tailgate carbon fibre trim??? Ordered one but it came back black.

i reckon my 16v is wasted - in fact i know it is as i haven't even driven it for 5 months and even then only done 6k odd miles in 3 years after rebuild.

head keeps saying bin it you don't use it

banging around on the bike and an old fiesta does the job but as soon as i slide in the ibiza and turn the key i remember what i'm missing ;)

not trying to change your mind but i previously had a immaculate yellow 1.4s mk2 beezer, i tought the same as you and wanted to keep it...believe me if you do get the gti you will love it so much more.. but then getting your shell mint and dropping another engine in it will be a good idea also

I used the part number that Flapper posted for it on a recent thread mate. Havent got it yet or the door foils as the dealer still doesnt have them in.

I think they may be on back order or something

I checked the tailgate decal I had with flappers it was the same one and the bloke said it should have been carbon fibre but it was a shiney black instead..... re-ordered it now
