Tyre places often seem to jack on the front-to-rear box section under the front footwells, which are covered in plastic.

Any pictures of the general areas of the jacking areas to lift up front and rear ends? Taking off front wheels tomorrow to paint brake calipers.

there are also two box sections that run from roughly middle of the car forward i use these as they are very strong and mean you can put axle stand out of the wasy of the engine bay if im under that part of the car!

Are these places where it can be jacked up from the front and back, or is there one of these each side? I want to jack it up from the front and then place on axle stands rather than doing one side then the other.

Yes, run your finger along the sill. There are two indentations, one near the front and one near the back of the sill. This marks the jacking points.

I use a Vauxhall (!) jack - seems stronger than the Seat one. Fits in the chassis rail nicely (use some padding so as not to damage the paint). Then if you are working under the car, some axle stands.

PS Been away for a while (shift in priorities in life!), but I'm back. :)

Welcome back, Yella Beeza :) I just realised how old this thread was when I posted too! But I really wanted to know if there were jacking points at the front or back in the middle of the car, cos I wanted to just lift the whole front of the car up and place it straight on stands.

Gosh, you're right. I never even had the car when 'gazjones' posted the reply! And his Ibiza has long gone now.

My car's now a year old with only 600+ miles on the clock. Last time I put BP Ultimate in it, it was about 15p a litre cheaper!! Just haven't had a chance to use it much. And keeping the winter salt off it as well.

Sorry to keep asking and it looks like the answer's no but I'll ask one last time! Is there a jacking point on the car where I can jack it up from the front/back only or is it only possible to raise it one side, stick an axle stand underneath and then raise it on the other side?

Well I lifted the back on the rear beam, as recommended in the mk3 forum, and supported it with axle stands. Now I need to take a front wheel off and don't fancy using the oem jack.

Is it ok to left with a trolley jack on one side and just place on one axle stand?

Or do I need to lift one side then support with an axle stand, and then lift the other side and support that?

I found this pic of anyone needs it which shows jacking points for the mk4.

Yes, yes, simple question, I know. But I've never needed to jack it up before. On other cars there are marks embossed on the bodywork showing where they are --- and according to the manual there should be "recesses" on the Ibiza.

Well I'm buggered if I can find them on mine. Do I just push the top part of the jack onto the ridge that hangs down from the sill, somewhere within 17cm from the wheel arch?

kriso, thanks for the diagram. I'll put a copy in the manual for reference! I think I spotted these points when looking under it (they have black caps, right?) but I'm not sure they're appropriate for the supplied jack in the spare kit.

I had some trouble actually locating these points on the car.

You're probably better off with a trolley jack. You can jack it up at the center of the rear beam from the back. Or along the long box bits that run along each side of the front half of the car.

The Ibiza doesn't have very good jacking points really.

Hmm... I have 9N1 Polo sitting right next to it. This one does have marked points. I guess their infrastructure is pretty much the same... it's just that the area concerned looks more like bodywork, but all things being equal it should be able to support around 300kg...

Looks like on mine that someone jacked it up on the cill at some point and bent all the metal lip along the bottom.
