The thing that worries me about handing over that much cash for the conversion is there's nothing stopping the government waiting til more and more people go for LPG then whacking a great big tax on it.

Which would be a bit of deja vu of the diesel situation ;-)

In my situation it would take far too long to break even on it with my mileage.

does any one no of any places that fit it in the kent area . my lcr is stage 2 at 285bhp will this be affected ? sounds like the way forward tho

I've had my LCR running on LPG for the last 2 months or so with no problems at all Been a member for a while, never bothered to post much! Will put a few pics up soon to show the system i have on the car.

Its great, halves my fuel costs, hardly any difference in performance, and cost me next to nothing as my uncle has runs an LPG conversion business

Oh and my cousin has had his Leon Cupra converted about 6 months ago and his car runs perfectly too! So in conclusion, go for it!!

Does the LPG system require the car is serviced more frequently, and do the insurance companies charge more for a car that has been LPGd?

My car is diesel/propane so might be slightly different to you petrol guys. Insurance is the same as it is done for enviomental and economic reasons not to add power only thing is it must be an insurance approved kit fitted by an LPG approved fitter. Servicing is just the same.

Only thing that needs servicing is the in line filter £5 but that will need changing more often if you get your gas from bottles.

The government supports LPG by reducing the level of fuel duty and by giving three years' advance notice in every budget, of any changes. So you can rest assured it will stay considerably cheaper than petrol for some time.

And diesels can't be converted I'm afraid

have any of u guys who own/owned one, that was converted to run on LPG?

If so can u advise us where is the best place in regards to quality and prices?

And also just let us know what ur experience was like using LPG with the LCR

Oh and my house is in lincolinshire near long sutton, so a place not a million miles away would help, if not, thats not a problem im after quality and value for money, not cheap s*it that is gonna F*ck the engine.

Hi, my grandad recently had his 1.6 Fiat Multipla mpv converted to gas (4 months ago). He paid around £1000 and it works brilliantly. The fitter is on ebay, search for username xcusiv. He is based in South Wales and will have the system fitted for you within 4-5 hours!

LPG conversions work fine on any petrol engine, whether it be an LCR or Rover 100

Well guys i have done my research and am going to have my cupra converted later this month. Was planning on selling it as had bought a golf GT TDI 130PD back in march. but since then diesel has rocketed and i know its coming down at the moment, but for how long? This the fuel drop is just a blip. Anyway the money i was being offered for the cupra was silly so the golf is going and the cupra is getting its conversion. In fact by my calcs it will be cheaper to run than the golf!
I have been looking at 2 companies and finally decided to go with the slightly cheaper one, both have same system, warranty, member of the lpg whatever etc etc. Will let you all know how i get on and post some info etc.

Look forward to hearing your experiences, as i am seriously looking to get this done come the new year. Makes sense, especially as i didn't realise the government gave 3 years warnings of budget changes to LPG
