LCR Front suspension creak

Well after reading all the threads about ARB bushes and drop links and so on and after taking it to 3 seperate garages know one can tell me why my front suspension creaks,

First it went to JKM in portsmouth then to SEAT in southampton and finally to Autotechnik in Totton i have mentioned the ARB bushes and the drop links to all 3 and they have all given the suspension system a once over and it is all fine so is there anything else it can be

Are you sure its not the front pillers on the inside? Mine creak sometimes as the piller plastic rubs along the dash plastic.

But i can tell you that mine does this too!!!!

Only since the weather has warmed up though??

No its not the pillars definetly from outside the car, the car does it mainly it is wet and cold but on occasions it does it when its warm it sounds like the chassis is gonna snap in half and i bet it is really loud when you are outside the car

I'm with you on this one guys, my car is in the same state!

I have lots of speed bumps around my area and everytime I hit a bump, damn that creaking!

Always the front, rears are sweet, but when the front end gets some presure on it you get the "creak".

Although i'm thinking shocks?

Have you checked the track rod ends?

Mine used to click and groan - the stealer checked it out and replaced the TRE at 16000 miles.

Much better after that and steering much more sensitive too

Does your steering seem less sensitve than it used to be ?

It may sometimes also 'jump' a little when turning lock to lock?

on the lcr i,ve seen with this fault. although everything seems ok on inspection. most people complain of noise when wet? had one guy come in changed arb bushes and was cured for short time. looked at car again as noise came back. removed arb bushes and applyed special grease to rubber bushes. (same grease used on rear suspension arm bushes on ibiza,s when they creak!). touch wood never been back!!!!.

Seat seem to struggle with these suspension creak problems

mine went in for the rears at 1k miles and came back really no better

does it in the wet only

mine went in for front and rear and came out all got front was top mounts rear was bushes had new ones and had them all greased up worked a treat but if ur out of warrenty why dont u up-grade all ur bushes to powerflex ones or another make

Would the garages sort the noise out free of charge if i'm in warrenty then?

I'm 3 months away from my warrenty end so i'm looking to mod the LCR

found out what the noise was today well hopefully i took it back to SEAT and they said its the off side top suspension mount that is making the noise and they have ordered a new part so fingers crossed that is the problem

Mine started creaking front near side this week while we were at a Haven camp site with all the speed bumps and a full car. Made me panic thought something was going to snap! Just out of warranty as well thought we'd be stranded. Will try and get it sorted next week.

while we are on the subject of creaking.. there is a slight knocking or tapping noise coming from my car, i think its the front.. if i come out the drive in the morning it happens.. and still happens if you take it out of gear and cost.

If i pick up a mate.. i say.. can you here that.. they say "here what"... so its not that loud... but its deffintly there.. i mentioned it to SEAT when it had its service and they changed the suspension top mounts...

Any one had anything similar?

Hi All,

I know this is an old post guys, but I've had this noise for a while. But now its getting worse and does it over every speed bump and most of the time whilst i'm parking.

SEAT did replace some bushes ('allegedly' about a year ago but the problem came back after a few weeks.

Did anyone ever get to the bottom of this problem?

Grease the top suspension mounts, job done. Offside gets really warm and dries up quickly. Well was on mine anyway.

How did you manage this on the R, slacken off the mounting bolts and spread the bush and bearing apart to get access?

Yes. Long time ago now but also put car on ramp dropped front wheels and put grease up in the suspension turret??
