My FR started to get neglected around 6 months ago due to impending fatherhood, but now the little one is here I can now spread some love back to my TDI....

 thanks, yes I have a few things planned. Will be getting some tints next week (so I can rid of the uber-gay kitty shades).

Also looking at some new alloys as i'm just starting to think the 17's are touch small and its beginning to bug me a bit, but paining over which ones to get....I really like the look of the Gallardo replicas and the Kei Kruze blacks.

Head unit upgrade is a soon to be upgrade too, the new Parrot RK8200 is a front runner ato the mo....

...so a couple planned yes!:p

next up was a Carbonio install...took me far longer than it should have done only because i didn't move some wiring [:@]. Once that was out of the way it popped straight in!

leon-5.jpg

leon-6.jpg

and when the battery is put back, there really isn't much room!

leon-7.jpg

the sound is awesome, and it was an expensive mod for not really any gain although the car really does seem more responsive when I put my foot down (although this a detrimental effect on my clutch with even more slip!)

The filter placement of the Carbonio (down in the wheel arch) bugged me somewhat I wondered if there was any way to ram a bit more air into the vicinity of the filter.

I managed to get my hands on some battery relocation brackets to create a little more room down there, and also a replacement scoop. Although the quality of the scoop was great, the shape of the "outlet" meant it was very difficult to get the hose to stay on it, especially with the amount of room to play with...

leon-8.jpg

thats when I decided to shamelessly steal Uncle Fester's idea :D and mod the scoop with some 80mm pipe from B&Q and some p40 filler (I also trimmed the front edge of the scoop so it sits more snug on the car, as well as providing an extra couple of mm)...

leon-10.jpg

after a sand down a spray up....

leon-11.jpg

and this is it fitted with some 90mm hose from a good supplier on ebay....

i'm not quite happy with the finish (i hate sanding!) so its coming of to be tidied up a bit. I had to squish the pipe a bit to get it in, but now it's forcing air right down into that wheel arch!

Wether it makes any difference, i don't quite know yet but I had fun doing it!

Next up.....Alpine HU install and a Spec stg2 clutch and flywheel when they arrive!!!

Looking good mate, love the colour.

Is the grill badge just the normal stick on or is it a proper grill badge. And if its a stick on how did you get it to stick and stay stuck on? (Sorry to sound like the cat in the hat!)

For my birthday I treated myself to an Alpine X100 head unit, as i'm sick of cd's all over the place (and nothing to do with being a gadget junkie :)).

Installed the HU no problem, but had to figure out where to locate the ipod. I would haved ideally would have liked to have it in the ashtray, but after inspecting it I realised I would have to do a bit of chopping so tried something else. The USB lead runs down the back of the console and exits through the same hole as the wiring for the cig lighter so decided to locate it in the cubby hole!

Luckily for me, the case I bought for my nano also came with a handy clip....

and after a healthy portion of sticky pads....

the clip stuck in place on the underside of the ashtray...

finished! view from the my seat...

Pretty pleased with it! I know its not exactly hidden but I never leave anything in the car anyway, hidden or not!!!!

Now, just to get this fitted...

sorry for the late reply....using standard speakers and i'm impressed with the quality. I'm no ICE expert, but the sound is good enough for me, nice and clear with good treble and not too much bass.

Think it was around £220 delivered.

Here's a head on shot in darkness. As you can see, the red doesn't quite match, but it's close enough for me :)

You just cost me £208, thanks. Next time, before you post such a lovely stereo think of the consequences it might have on your fellow forumites!!;)
