How much difference in performance does changing the downpipe and cat on the LCR actually make?

I'm going to be purchasing a cat back system soon but need to deciede what system to go for, one that has a downpipe and cat available or not?

Much better design by APR than OE

All good on the performance side of things
A freer flowing system will allow your turbo to spool up quicker therefore get to peak figures quicker, oh and sound very very nice
Piper, Milltek and Jetex are other very good manufactures
Oh and Blueflame but I wouldn't but lots have

I'm torn between the Piper and Jetex system.

Piper do the full system but Jetex only do the cat back system. As both are desigined to fit as direct replacements, could I mix and match?? Say Piper downpipw and cat and Jetex cat back??

Also would I need the full system to go to AMD stage 2 or just the cat back??

LOVE my full Piper turbo back system. Awesome noise! :D
Defo improved the performance of my LCR. Sports cat allows gases to flow freely quicker etc, turbo spools up louder and quicker. Not sure on the exact figures with a full system, but some say between 7bhp-12bhp, changes with car. I've not had mine dyno'd though.

100% improvement over OEM zorst which weighs 3 times my Piper! Or something silly...

Cheers Tom, how loud is the Piper system on idle, under acceleration and sat at speed 70-90mph on the motorway??

When the car is cold(1st start in morning) - quite noisy, but once warm and down to regular idle speed(doesn't take mine long) it's fine. Nice burble but nothing chavvy or OTT :)

Acceleration 3k and up, oh boy! She will scream if you really boot it! Sounds like a touring car lol. I love to open it up everyday when its good to, as the noise is just too nice not to hear!

70-90 is the Piper's brilliance, it's cruising speed for the LCR in 6th and you won't notice it!

Perfect system. :)

Of course mate

Might have just swung it for me for the Piper over the Jetex with your experiance and comments.

:D

Lol, of course ;)

I'm sure the Jetex is a good enough piece of kit. But the Piper is a brilliant bit of kit imo and I can't fault it since I've had it (3 months or so?)

Also, you have PM..:)

My mate Marcus has a full turbo back Jetex system on his LC and it is a really nice bit of kit but they don't do the downpipe and cat for the LCR.

I was contenplating mixing and matching the systems but I don't think there is any point now just gonna go for thr Piper system.

You have PM to... :)

It's a shame they don't. But Piper is the full works mate, and it's been brill.

PM acted on, lol

Yeah it is as it is nice and give's the sound and noise level that I want.

Again, PM'd :)

Yeah the Jetex systems aren't overkill on the noise levels. Your mates Cupra with Jetex cat-back is going to be quieter than a cat-back only on your LCR I would have thought.. Bigger turbo, more power etc

tom, you are giving great advice, i was looking at getting piper, but have been trawling flea bay, and have noticed a blueflame going quite cheap. i know a few peeps with blueflame and it sounds great, but im itching to get piper, just to be different i suppose.

can you give me a price for your full system, and fitting price, so i know what to expect...

thanks bud

Marcus actually has the turbo back full system and it is nice and sounds really good. Haven't been in the car since he had it Custom Coded though so that will prob make a difference.

Me personally, wouldn't go Blueflame. Read too many threads on build quality issues, loose fitments, ECU lights coming on after fitting.. For me with the zorst I wanted the best build as top priority. Though Miltek/Jetex are hardly poop. I also fancied the Piper due to the development put into the system by Piper(Garry on here led it)

My system has been spot on since I got it fitted a few months ago. Touch wood!
