when i drove the VRS at the weekend I thought i could get near 70mpg out of it. I only did a few lanes with loads of gear changes and stops. So long motor trip and i think mid to high 60's

looks like it will be an FR then, :)

iPod compatibility can be added to any Alana head unit, although you won't get track names displayed on the non-MP3 ones. The adaptor connects through the CD changer port on the head unit.

Id definitely go for an Ibiza, the Fabia's a nice car but the interior is a bit lower rent than the Ibiza (the dash is pretty nasty and the leather in the Ltd edition makes the interior very dark). Imo the Fabia's look much better in black than the limited edition blue ones, my mate who owns one used to work for Skoda and raves about it. Those diesels are very rapid on the motorway. I'd go FR 5dr if it was me but they're all pretty nice cars.

my choice would be a Golf 2.0 TDi 140bhp with DSG. Can be picked up main dealer for an 18 month old one for 15k.

If you buy the vRS, theres lots of them kicking about so you will wish you bought the FR as theres not as many.

If you buy the FR, you will see a Cupra and wish you bought 1 of them.

I have the PD100 Sport and with its remap is seeing more than the FR and vRS, but have driven a Curpa and the sensation is totally different. Better brakes, better looking, more kit and not for all that much more cash.

On a quicky search heres a few i found for you:

Red 2007 Ibiza Cupra

Red 2006 Ibiza Cupra

Silver 2006 Ibiza Cupra (rare colour)

Black 2007 Ibiza Cupra

Just been thinking about this 'long' gearbox thing and am wondering how much different they can be?
Looking at the 0-60 for the 130bhp Sport and the 130bhp FR, they post exactly the same 0-60 times (info from Parkers website). I'd expect the FR to be quicker if it was shorter geared seeing as it is the same engine. Is it only 4th, 5th and 6th that are different ratios?

That's how it feels - yes.
