Hi all,
I am going GT3071R like Hooch and only know of the JBS equal length or full-race manifold which look like hopefully will fit in my polo engine bay.. none of them can gurantee this..

JBS mani is £1000, they will make it with external wastegate and hopefully add EGT bung for me! And ofcourse its 5mm thick runners, they give 3yr warranty and are kinda local.
Full race works out £750 including delivery and EGT bung made on the runner($125 xtra:censored:), made from sc40 and the runners are apprx 3.6mm, heard good things from the jap forums but not much on the VAG scene.

Any recommendations??

Im hoping Mr Bill reads this maybe you have a manifold for me??:)

Im happy to pay upto £1000, anything more then I would rather go all out and get a custom made manifold going to the side of the engine where the MAF is right now.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies:D

Do a search on full race manifolds over on vwvortex.com. Not a single failure so far I believe. Having said that, not heard of any JBS manifold failures either. Looks like the full race item places the turbo more central. Not sure if that would be an issue on a polo with the brake servo etc.

I have full-race on my ibiza currently.. new, not yet started the engine.

I also have my new manifold completed and on its was from the USA now, which is T3 flanged, externally 44mm tial gated and based on the very successful Primary Designs design of my original IHI based unit. It will be RHD friendly where full-race is'nt (doable as I have proven, but very tight, where mine is'nt)

My new manifold is ~£800 when it gets here in external rhd gated version

I would'nt get fixated in wall thickness's of manifolds being the be all and end of of judging reliability. by that reasoning my thin wall, light primary-designs manifold would ahve fallen apart in short time, which it did'nt. Fabrication methods are the key to reliable fabricated tubular manifolds, built from suitable/available materials.

thanks guys for the response!
I defo have less space than the mk3 ibiza, Bill do you think I would be struggling to fit the full-race mani because of lhd fitment?
Does it take ages to get to each nut to tighten the Mani!!

Wait and see bills new full race for rhd. that might do what you are after. but a proper full race as we know it at the moment wont and the downpipe will be seriosly tight.
Might be worth custom making a manifold like the APR for RHD which is what mine was based on. Apart from the turbo access is harder I prefer the underslung turbo position.

fitment was ok. from above and below. one cranked ring spanner needed a slightly different bend to it but otherwise no real issues. they're all fiddly. not in the JS mani scale of awkwardness tho fitting.

the top mounted design means you have more space above so bulkhead constraints like I am guessing you describe are'nt so bad.
polo to ibiza are'nt that dissimilar cousins.

full-race fitted, however mine will fit much easier in terms of accessablity of DP, external gate and DP design.

Bill is the new one going to mass market or just a bespoke design for you?

Mass. not just for me no.
its been jigged to replicate it.
1st off done. on its way to me along with some other bits of fuel rail components.

Its a fine fit to the head. the turbo fits it fine.
space left for DP and external gate however is where it gets tight.

DP is the fiddly bit

Question tho.. what model polo is yours?
what style and position are you engine mounts?

All my manifold bolts got done up with a socket apart from 1 which was a spanner job. 2 of the socket ones needed swivel joint but quite easy realy.

yea cranked 12mm ring spanner, and ratchet ring spanner were all I had to use. some from below, some from above

When will your mani be available bill?
Would it be poss to turn the wastegate facing more the engine and add a screamer pipe instead of into the DP?
I will have to get rid of the metal cover over the windscreen mech. and wiring for the turbo to fit.
My polo is a 9N 2003.
The engine mounts are the same as a mk4 golf with engine support bracket near cambelt to engine mount on arch, gearbox mount same on arch and pendulum mount on subframe.
My engine is tilted a fair bit, never really known if its normal or bad... the inlet faces more up and turbo is going down.. pic below.

i knew it wouldnt be long untill i was the 'norm' again lol

It not the norm yet hooch!!! We all have different cars.. Ibiza's, Mini & Polo!

I think it will a long time before this is the norm, and with the way motoring expenses are rising ,petrol tax etc, its not easy... unless its your business ofcourse;)
