Bring up this thread again, im thinking of building up an engine over winter, now im going to be going down 1.9 route. What exactly do i need, i.e pistons/valves/rods etc, also would i be better doing this to an engine with big port head?

all ther aforementioned..
largeport would complement a higher flowing turbo.. you can use one on your bottom end ya know.
consider also larger intake manifold and t'body

Im going to be keeping my gt2x turbo till probly end of next year, just trying to build up an engine that will hopefully make boost come on a lot earlier and also engine rev alot higher.

What i really need to know is what size pistons to go for, which rods are best and also which engines have big port head?
Cheers Mark

Ive got the chance of buying J.E Pistons to take bore upto 2008cc
The specs are bore: 83mm
comp height: 29.82mm
pin diameter: 20mm
comp ratio: 8.5:1
weight: 291
Now ill need to run a 92.8mm stroke crank and was told i can get this from europarts for £350.
Would this be ok?

Awesome's TT runs the GT2871R with I believe a 2 litre bottom end now.

It is going to run APR's intake manifold and some uprated cams.

It 'was' mapped on APR Stage 3 awaiting a custom map.....should be into the mid to high 400's.

I must admit that it all becomes hugely expensive when considering the costs of not only the turbo kits but going big capacity unless you're DIY'r.

Ditch the Eurospec Crank....If you want a stroker kit send me a PM.

Issam... what is the weight of the 2ltr crank you refer to, as the eurospec one's appeal is its light weight for its additional stroke, so fears of high rpms + longer stroke increasing stress's are reduced.

the eurospec one is lighter than the stock 1.8t one.

pm(email) if you prefer

dunno if its your style hooch but in the states lots of people have put 20v heads on 2lt 8v bottom ends their engine code is aba and the uk spec one is agg in mk3 golfs. you do have to block 3 holes in the head up though. with custom pistons from je you can have 2.1 there is a mahoosive thread on it in vortex. but then i spose its not a true 1.8t
