Driving along listening to a cd (genuine not copy) and the cd player stops working and displays the message 'CD Drive Defect' at first it wouldnt eject the cd either, anyone else had this??,

It now works again but some times skips when playing, the radio is the standard one that comes with a 07 FR

Is the radio fully covered by the warranty in the car's second year ??

Mine has started to do this.

I complained about it when I had the car serviced last week. The service invoice states 'unable to fault ... CD player' so they didn't do anthing about it

This morning it did it again. I'm pretty p-d off about it TBH. I don't use the CD very often (I use the AUX-in with an MP3 player), so I've only just found the problem as it gets to a year old!

Dealer said they checked it for fault codes but couldn't find any. Is this bull, or does the stereo actually store fault codes?

And any tips on how to prove the fault to the dealer??

Last time I got the fault I used the mobile to record error messages and then play it back to dealer.

def worth a call to seat customer care 0500 222222 the policy is to fit new units under warranty which are unavailable - however there were loads of recon/exchange units available which do the same job and will be under warranty until end of cars 3 yr warranty same as a new one. customer services asked my customer if they would accept a recon unit and when she said yes it arrived next day. job done.

I've had this prob too. Even the radio reception is poor to unlistenable at times!! Contacted the dealer in March and am only now getting it replaced. They are covering it under warranty

I had this problem too. Westerham Garage (Kent) replaced my head unit under warranty after reviewing the errors in its memory. It took about 4 weeks to get the replacement unit. My car is an 07 FR too - most of the others with same prob seem to be FR's... is there a connection? Same head unit fitted in other Leon models I think, so could it be to do with the harder suspension in the FR?

Mine started doing this yesterday, but for the past week or so it's been skipping when reading CDs (brand new ones I got for xmas, no less)...not something it's done before.

And yesterday it refused to eject the CD for a few hours. Finally got it out though. I'm not happy with it and don't really trust it anymore. Is there a way to force it to eject a CD at all?

Also, I've moved house since I bought the car, and my old local dealer's not so local anymore. Would I be ok to take it to a new local one for them to check it out under warranty, or would they be funny about it since I didn't purchase it from them?

I'm now in Newcastle upon Tyne and bought it from Darlington. I know it's not Miiiles away from here, but I'm sure there must be a Seat dealer up here. Anyone used them, are they any good or a bunch of nublets?

Cheers.

Mine hasnt had a problem with the cd player, but the radio reception can be awfull and keeps getting fuzzy. Always needs tweaking to get a clear reception.

Any dealer should be able to warranty work no questions asked.

I moved from Teesside to Leeds when I had the Celica and the Toyota dealer in Leeds was fine about warranty work.

With the SEAT I was going to change dealers and when I spoke to JCT600 they were happy to pick up any warranty work.

If you have any issues just give SEAT customer services a ring. At the end of the day the labour is charged back to SEAT anyway.

I had that same CD defect issue a couple of times, again with purchased CD's. Switching the ignition off usually clears it and allows the disk to be ejected. Come to think of it when I used MP3 discs the issue never occurred.
