Hmmm I note EVO only gave it 2 stars :/

evo is a crap publication due to all the writers driving about in 911 and ferraris everyday, and hence anything other than a ferrari, 911, bmw or similiar to them is crap. I hate those guys, they need to get back to the real world, no one is going to buy a ibiza 1.4 etc if they want to get from a to b as fast as possible.

all about the dolla, they bring out the new ibiza they sell aload. Sales slow. Next year they bring the tdi's and fr/curpa and make more money and sales I guess

Why can't the Ibiza get these engine's.

Audi hasnt revealed as such but instead its a leak. Lately these leaks havent been quite spot on though. Personally I cant see a new ibiza cupra with less power than the current model.

My money is still on a 1.8T or 2.0T, thats if they dont develop a 1.6 TSI.

TFSI as above but with turbo
TSI is an FSI engine with a supercharger up to so many revs and then a big turbo kicks in.

It's confusing the way VW currently badges things but currently there is only a 1.4TSI.

If there were a 1.6TSI i imagine it would be more powerful than the 1.8TFSI.

When VAG started showing around the 1.4TSI in 2005. Both speculation as well as official word was the rest of their engine line-up would follow suit. I believe VAG even mentioned that the 1.8 would be next. Yet when it arrived as we well know it showed up without the supercharger! Thus it's a 1.8TfSI currently available in 160 & 170hp variations... If & when the 1.6 gets this treatment, quite possible if the rumors of the 1.2TfSI are verified. As the 1.2 is just a 3-pot from the 1.6's 4-pot. Then I'd expect it to slot in above the 1.4TfSI yet unless it's a 1.6TSI still below the 1.8TfSI. So given the outputs of these other engines I believe only the 150hp mark is left for marketing purposes!!!
More sensibly I would think the 1.0TSI/TfSI should be the next engine with these treatments to arrive both from a marketing standpoint as well as it is speculated that this would be used in the "UP-line" of new small rear engined RWD offerings!!! The 75hp variation could be the 1st to make the scene. It would also be a good replacement for the 1.2 70hp currently being sold.
Yet no real verification of this has been leaked. It may make most marketing sense to keep the offerings to 1.0/1.4/1.8 then a 2.2 could be offered in the futre...
Say: 1.0TfSI 65-95hp 115hp-MAX
1.4TfSI/TSI 120-170hp 200+hp-MAX
1.8TfSI 160-170hp 225hp-MAX
2.2TfSI 185-245hp 350hp-MAX
All this speculation takes into consideration dropping the supercharger that adds an "unnecessary":( expense & the MAX I mention should be considered like the Cupra/S3/Clubsport/anniversary editions that VAG usually does.:whistle:

Announced at the 2005 Frankfurt Auto Show to be used in the Golf GT, The 1.4l Twincharger is a TSI engine with a turbocharger and a supercharger in combination. Its downsizing leads to economy, with 14% more power than the 2.0 FSI but consuming 5% less fuel. The mechanical compressor operates at low engine speeds below 2400 rpm to increase low-end power, the turbocharger engages at middle revs, a clutch disengage the supercharger which will then be bypassed once the turbocharger reaches sufficient speed to provide boost above 3500 rpm.

In 2007 Volkswagen announced the 90 kW model which will replace the 1.6 FSI 115 hp (86 kW) engine. This engine differs from the 103 kW and 125 kW models in several ways. It is turbocharger only and has water-cooled intercooler to reduce charge time. The engine has reduced frictional losses, optimized camshafts, new intake port and new high-pressure injector valves. It is also 14 kg lighter than the 125 kW model, all to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions.

The last pictures are a reference.
I drove a sport version the 30th and 31th. (In Belgium) It is nice car with a sporty feel to it. Without losing comfort in the ride. Steering was sharp and also light. And suspension was stiff but comfortable. As you might have guessed I'm going to order one!
