Small Update.

10mm forge rear spacers and longer bolts going on next Saturday.

My rear strut brace should arrive in 2 weeks or so it seems. Looking forward to both these "small" mods as it should fix very small issues I am not happy with. First one being when heavy braking back is a tad twitchy. Second I feel the rear could use which some stiffening up when going round corners

The reason it goes light on the rear is the rear wheels are losing traction with the floor as the car is nose diving from the brakes, to stop this your either going to have to change the brake bias and upgrade the rear brakes or.. my personal choice, stiffen up the chassis front to back to stop the car nose diving.

Stiffening the chassis won't stop the nosedive, if anything it will make it worse - more weight in the rear or stiffer springs / shocks on the front - or change the brake bias I fitted DS2500 pads to the rear on mine and that seems to have helped slow the car to a halt a little more level. I do think having a between 80 and 100kg over the rear axle helps too.

Pat, your be surprised on stiffening the chassis in relation of the front and rear interaction would do... Been reading up on it recently and it does work.

After all if the chassis flexes on braking (banana shapes under load) this multiplies the lifting action, if you stiffen the chassis to not allow front to back flex, then the lifting action is reduced and converted into a pushing motion which the brakes can control unlike the lifting motion its experiencing now... (can u tell i work in a structual engineering firm!)

MK is ok, but not when the M25 is covered in average speed cameras and the M2 is roadworks and average speed camera... rather have an afternoon in the essex twisties and no camera thanks!!

Abit like this, but yes, a bolted subframe to allow direct interaction with front and rear moment, although not suitable on day to day use cars...
This really allows dog leg moments on the rear end when the front raises up driveways etc, the rear wheels lifts too...

As mines a non day to day, looking at fabricating subframe bracing for my Leon, going to measure up, then CAD up the design and send off to the metal shop to be fabricated, then once the teething problems are out the way, get a few more made up for fellow SCN members for a small fee

Forever custom modifing I am, just never like to be the same as everyone else or have something you can get by just buying off a shelf.

It wont be posted up on the forum like some sort of family life album, I will just do (like most of my mods) off screen and report back once finished or defeated!

Well my good man, I am doing the mod because

1) I am bored
2) All the other mods now will cost me lots of money and this wont.
3) I want to see for myself if it actually makes a difference so I am going to smooth both sides of the airbox and get some 108mm ducting. Route it to a nice place and hope for the best.
4) I am getting a carbonio cold air intake so i can compare and see which is better
