Sorry if this has been covered, i did a search and couldn't find anything so here goes.

How do i take off the big black engine cover on my 1.2 ibiza? I have a panel filter to fit. I read you just pull but it doesn't seem to move at all and i don't want to break it. I also read about some breather pipes, but i have no idea what these are so can someone please tell me how to take it off! And if anyone has pics that would be great.
Thanks!

its the little black pipe that goes in the right hand side of the engine cover (as you look at it) about half way up, well thats where it is on my 1.4, its better to disconnect it first so you dont yank it off by mistake when removing the engine cover, but the cover does need a good firm tug, dont be scared, ya just gotta go for it :p

pull pull pull :D

theres a TINY little pipe you just need to reconnect, you'll see it on the right hand side of the cover, will all become clear when you yank it!

Yeah took mine off the other day just pulled it up at front then back came off easily, and disconnected the pipes. What happens if they are not reconnected? and can I get an induction kit without having to leave off the cover? Or even how do u get into the panel filter i just want sum grunt

You cant have an induction kit with the cover still on, not on a 1.2 anyway. The air intake pipe that goes to the throttle body is situated at the back, and joined to, the cover.

once an induction kit is fitted what do you do with all those pipes floating around that you've disconnected from the airbox? :S

fit the breather pipe with one of these or a similar product (halfords do them for under a tenner) :

Then just zip tie it up out the way......
If i remember correctly that should be the only pipe that you need to disconnect from the engine cover to remove it...

if you get an induction kit from K&N that is specific to the 1.2 then there will be a plce to put the pipes...btw...

if you get an induction kit there will be two pipes that you have to attach to your engine...

Cheers guys, i just done it :) Got the cover off, had to take the strut brace off too as it was too tight a fit to get the box out. I put the new filter and had a test run and all is well, should of seen the amount of rubbish in the old one! About 200 dead flies and bit of leaves and all sorts.

theres 2 rubber pipes coming from the cover tho, that go directly to the engine. What are these for?
