Hi all, firstly thanks to everyone who helped me build my car, every reply made a difference :)

Spec:
AYP block and gearbox
K04 setup from S3
Forge FMIC
Forge Split R ( I think is leaking)[:@]
3"D/P to 2.5 down to backbox then 2" at exit
JBS Custom Code phase 2 or 3 remap - cost £560

On the road my car is really good except I keep seeing the boost gauge shoot over 1.5bar on boost spike in 4th and 5th. I have seen 1.8bar so I tend to drive to miss the boost spike because I dont want to kill the turbo..

Anyway on the rolling road, when it was hitting boost spike, the car was going into safemode so only 0.5bar to redline..
It made 214.9 bhp - 297.9 Nm torque  good power for limp mode?!

We tried again after switching the car off and he kept low boost until after 3k to miss boost spike and floored it, the boost stayed at 1.0BAR..
260.2 bhp - 365.7 Nm torque  only extra 45bhp with 0.5bar more??

On the road sometimes the car holds 1.1 1.2 to 6K and sometimes it doesnt but it never goes into safemode like it kept going on the rolling road:confused::cry:..

I've been told to use a elec boost controller which will help or should I go back to JBS to sort the boost spike and re- remap it?? Only thing is they want to charge me by the hour to check the car but maybe thats a good thing because they are close and experienced in 1.8t.
The remap does seem good MAX EGT 750.

Here are the print outs 1st safemode run 2nd 1bar boost.

thats quite a long dyno pull in the vid. would have been getting warm me thinks

I agree! that was actually the last run when we actually managed to get the car to run off safemode... about 5 runs alltogether but going to about 4K then letting go because was only holding 0.5bar.
Could that have made me lose power? because those fans are powerful!!

Any idea what kind of boost the K04 can or should hold to redline... and what is Red line because my polo only shows 6k revs so thats all he went upto..

those fans wont contribute to much cylinder cooling... were AIT logged?
high loads like those clearly were from the vid, will exaggerate a load the ecu just wont likely see on the road when driven normally. Do you step on the gas in 5th going up a steep hill and exect it to accelerate? torque request will be massive, hence overboost trying to achieve it. (not an excuse why it drops into limp, but its not an area its setup on, as its outside of "normal" driving conditions.

Lots of initial boost is going to get AIT hot, and long runs times adding to the high cyl temps... so CF possibly starting to pull back also.. none of this being good for making good power.

Hi Bill, unfortunately AIT's werent recorded because I couldnt get vag.com to work, I checkd my fault codes and I had loads, N75 open circuit, Cam position sensor or something along those lines!
Cleared them all and she runs fine on the road!

I have the car booked with JBS on the 19th to get it mapped again and also see if their equal length mani will fit.

Isnt the Drive train lose high for FWD?

sorry to hear about your issues, but on what justification or business reason are you paying again for?

the car has been mapped, it could be an issue with the map, but you are to pay again for a service which should have been done properly first time round :(

Overboost can be disabled on these to stop the spike.

However the k04 will handle that pressure no problem. Seen 2 bar with no problems! (just a bit warm up top!)

I didnt say safe, just possible. I have seen a few cars running this for lots of low end torque but crap power up top.

Most had covered thousands of miles like this.
